As I'm sure many of you noticed by the news story on the main page, Bane is the latest villian confirmed to be in 'The Batman'. Thoughts and opinions on this?

Seems a little too early in Batman's career to be introducing Bane. Still, BTAS/TNBA never got the character quite right, reducing him to a hired thug (albeit a very smart and cunning one). Maybe they'll give him a bit more history with Batman, instead of coming out of nowhere like he did in the comics.

OT: I remember hearing in the comics that Bane is actually Bruce Wayne's half-brother? Has this ever been developed or confirmed?

I had heard that too...about the half-brother bit....I do believe that was proven incorrect later in that story arc, though.

I'm really excited to see if someone can finally give this character the presence he deserves! DC had no idea what to do with him after Knightfall, and like you said BTAS/TNBA never really got him right....

From the looks of things, this Batman looks to be more action-based than its previous incarnations, to me. For that reason, I think that Bane is a natural choice.

Personally, I'd rather have a series that continues from where B:TAS left off and not a "Batman: The Early Years" type series. That said, I'm sure everyone from Batman's rogue gallery will pop up eventually.

I don't know much about this new show. Does anyone know if they're doing a "Smallville" and showing Bruce during his high school or college years? Is he that young? If so, I have a feeling Bane will be portrayed as the school's star wrestling athlete who uses steroids.

No, Bruce is in his mid-20s in the show. He's back from traveling the world, just retaken his company, and building the Batman persona for the first time.

Bane sounds like an interesting character to place into the cartoon, but seeing how they've seemingly ruined Joker's appearance, I'm a little frightened about what they'll make him. Since they exagerate everything, it seems, he'll probably be bigger than the screen, a Comic-Mongul like size if you would.

I'm thinking this new series will be taking a cue from the Jim Lee/Jeph Loeb books in terms of looks and revisionment. It isn't exactly a bad thing, but seeing how Timm designs are stuck in our heads for about a decade, it's hard to let go of. Hopefully, they will ba able to get even darker than BTAS coud get in storytelling, but that is a pipedream. Be curious to see if they allow Superman to appear as well.
