View Full Version : NES games
Is it possible to burn NES games onto a disk then play them on a PS or PS2? Forgive me if this is a dumb question but I'm no computer whiz. I DO know that my friend once downloaded some and played them with his keyboard, right at his computer. thanks
I'm just back into the video game thing, btw. My girlfriend bought me a PS2 for Christmas. I have NFL Gameday. This is my first in depth video game experience since my Sega Genesis. I've played newer systems since but only periodically. This football game I have is INCREDIBE! It was only like $20. So if this thing was $20, I'm wondering what one of those $50 ones is like!

Your friend is using emulation, which consists of a computer application replicating a game console to play games.

You can't discuss how to get the games, but yes, there are NES emulators for PS, PS2, XBOX, you name it. However, none of them can just be popped in. They require modding of some sort.

The best NES emulators are for Dreamcast in my opinion. :D

- The Dork KnightI used to have a Critic avatar too. I just changed mine today.
The best console emulators are probably for the Xbox, but you have to have a modded Xbox in order to play them. The Dreamcast is the most accesable console for emulation since you don't need any mod chips or anything and can just pop the discs in. DC works especially well with NES emulation.
As far as PS2 emulation goes you will have to have your PS2 modded which is very risking to do on any console, but it's a bit more risking to mod a PS2. If you screw up your PS2 is fried I suggest just buying a Dreamcast (you can probably get one for $50 or less) for your console emulation needs. Not to mention the Dreamcast is one kick ass console.

It does sounds quite odd for them to think that, when you consider that companies like Namco always releases their classics of Pac-Man, etc. on a compilation disc in each generation, and they still sell quite well. Nintendo, though, would likely, split all their classics onto separate discs or cartridges, like with the Mario rereleases.

PocketNES hasn't been discontinued. It merely requires a Flash linker to burn the emulator onto a blank cartridge. You can get flash linkers from Success HK (check other websites for recommendations). EZF and F2A are not that expensive. Generally they cost $70 with a 64 MB cart, but if you want more space prepare to shell out some cash. I'm not even factoring in the shipping and handling either.
