I was just thinking but which mainstream DCAU series has the best fight scens??? I mean with all the drama and the comedy people sometimes forget that these series are action franchises.

So out of
B:TAS
TNBA
S:TAS
Batman Beyond
The Zeta Project
Static Shock
Justice League
which one do you think has the best fight scenes and which one has the worst in terms of hand to hand combat or otherwise???

I'm surprised Teen Titans isn't up there. Their fights are well choreographed and play together very well. Action Packed, they is.

My choice will be Justice League. When the fights have been good, they've been really good. I'm thinking The Savage Time, Twilight, Tabula Rasa, A Better World, Secret Society, even Wild Cards.

On the other hand, when the fights have been lame they've been really lame i.e. Secret Origins (admittedly a starting off point), War World (admittedly a low point) and Metamorphosis (admittedly no point).

Teen Titans isn't up there because it's not in continunity with the other shows and because the animation is different from the other shows, and the fight scenes are very different from the other shows. It can even be said that they are so different that they can't even be compared even though they are certain similarities there.

Of those listed...it'd be BB. Can't tell me anything JL's done can top the Inque battles and Jokerz fights from that show...

And I completely agree with Fone Bone--TT has some of the single best fight scenes I've ever seen, especially season two. All the flipping, twirling, punching...it's just bad-ass.

And while I wholeheartedly agree that TT isn't in continuity with every other series, I think it's still technically a DCAU cartoon...just not in the, well, same universe....

I think Justice League has the best fight scenes as well as some of the best all around battles.

BTAS had the worst. Most of the time they panned away from the action and rarely showed any connecting blows. I cant remember the episode off the top of my head but the one where Bruce Wayne fought the Ninja was awful. For the most part all you saw was shadows and the look on Summer Gleasons face. That should have been a true maritial arts display but it wasnt even close.

My vote goes to Batman Beyond. Justice League is a close second, but I just plain liked the animation better in BB, and it helped that most of the fights in that show were between only two or three people and so you could see exactly what was happening at all times. The ginormous battle-royale style fights in JL can get a little muddled and confusing at times (not really the directors' fault, just a limitation when you've got that much going on on-screen all the time).

i'm going to have to go with batman beyond. i'm not a really big fan of the whole "i'm stronger than you are, thus i can punch you farther than you can punch me" that is justice league. batman beyond is beautiful with the whole martial arts aspect. and even though teen titans isn't in the same universe, if it was on the list, i'd vote for it instead

I think Justice League and S:TAS never really had great fight scenes through out the entire series. However when they had/have an epic final battle between good and evil type fight they went out. I don't think any fights I have seen so far can top the Legacy and Twilight battles.

Beyond however has been the most consistant with their fights, few episode did not even one good fight. And BB gets extra points for the fight scenes in Return of the Joker. So I'll go for Beyond.

I would say Justice League. For the fact that it has been awhile since I last saw any of the other DCU animated series', save TT.

I think JL most of the time have much more impressive fights then any other show. Look at any of the fights in The Terror Beyond. They're all amazing to watch.

For me, it's a tie between The Batman/Superman Adventures (which I guess would count as TNBA and S:TAS) and Justice League. I love Batman's quickness and style in his fights on both shows, and I love Superman's strength as well...

Random example #1: Batman's crashing into the night club in "World's Finest"

Random example #2: Superman's first true fight with Darkseid in "Legacy"

Random example #3: the title fights of the JL in "Injustice For All", "The Secret Society", "Twilight", and "Paradise Lost"...

Ooh, Toughie. The only too I'm fresh on are Teen Titans and Justice League. It's been months since I saw an episode of any Batman, and, (aside the Last son of Krypton Dvd,) Years since I've seen Superman. I tend to remember the stories better than the action, so without going back to sample those older series, It would be easiest to say Teen Titans. But it's not on the list so the next easiest to Say Justice League. But something deep in my heart is telling me that B:TAS is still the single best DCAU series of all time in every catagory. I can't put my finger on it, and maybe it's just the same irrational impulse that makes really old time Star Trek fans prefer the Original series over Next Generation and Deep Space Nine (Voyager and Enterprise don't exist for me). The only Memory I can drudge up on the spur of the moment is that there was some real, real, REAL good action in Mask of the Phantasm. Not to mention the Single greatest Joker scene EVER (Beats out anything done in Return of the Joker by miles, and yes, I am talk about the uncut version.) Has anyone not scene Batman: Mask of the Phantasm lately? No? Really should, it's so great. Hey, that gives me an Idea for a thread...

When I first saw the thread title, the first show that came to mind was Batman Beyond. BB had the most intense fights EVER. Of course there's Inque (Blackout, Disappearing Inque), who delivered some of the best action scenes I've ever seen in animation. There were also many action-oriented episodes which were truly impressive (Mind Games, the intro to the Robot episode, Earth Mover, Babel, Eyewitness etc)

JL, on the other hand, has a lot more potential for cool action scenes, but they're never really done quite right. The only episode where I really enjoyed the fights was The Secret Society.

So I vote for BB. Only today I realize how under-rated that show was...

batman. either of the classic batman series. anytime when he's fighting Clayface or the new scarecrow. well animated and planned out.

the japan animated series probably had the better fight scenes just cos they were animated in a style that was simpler to animate and had a cleaner look as well as snazzier effects.

Best: Superman, Teen Titans
Middle: Batman Beyond, Batman: TNBA
Worst: Justice League, Batman: TAS, Static Shock

I also don't see why Teen Titans isn't in that poll. Static Shock and Zeta Project certainly aren't in the DCAU timeline. They're in whatever timeline makes Kids WB the most money at the time. The crossovers are just advertising stunts that don't care about continuity. Kids WB would do a Static Shock/Jackie Chan crossover if they thought it would look good for sweeps week.

Called Matt Wilson's score. Either I'm getting good, or he's getting predictable. Then again, aren't we all?

Best: Justice League, Batman Beyond (even though I hated BB, I'll admit, its fight scenes were good)
Middle: Superman, The New Batman Adventures
Worst: Batman

True, but I haven't seen anything that knocks Static Shock or Zeta Project out of continuity. In fact BB's "Countdown" puts Zeta firmly in continuity and Static's crossovers have always been careful to be logical. If you mean that Batman's costume has changed from ep to ep, that's more a stylistic approach to prevent confusion than a continuity screw-up. Look at it this way, does the fact that Superman lost those age lines on his face mean that the first and second seasons of Justice League aren't in the same continuity? Character redesigns happen all the time in the DCAU. But, yeah, even if it's not in continuity, Teen Titans should've been up there.

I wanted to vote for both Superman and Batman Beyond, but since I can only choose one, I had to go with Batman Beyond. There were some fight scenes that had me gripping the arm chair. The animation really worked, for most part, with the character designs, and produced some solid battles. The fight in "Mind Games" remains one of the most intense fights the show has done.

Here's some of my faves, in no particular order:

Superman's fight with Darkseid in "Legacy" Part 2 was good.

Superman's fight with Lobo in "The Main Man" Part 1 was also.

Batman's fight with Bane in "Over The Edge"

Solomon Grundy vs. the Giant Head in "The Terror Beyond"

Superman vs. Darkseid in "Twilight"

Batman vs. Ra's Al Ghul in "The Demon's Quest" Part 2

Batman vs. The Joker in the animated movie "Batman: Mask Of The Phantasm"

Future Batman vs. Joker/Tim Drake in "Batman Beyond: Return Of The Joker"

Superman vs. Detective Bowman (In his chopper) in "The Late Mr. Kent" (Okay, so it wasn't an all out brawl, but it was nice to see Superman fighting something other than a supervillain or a super powerful robot for a change)

Superman vs. The Lexo-Skell-5000 (Driven By John "Metallo" Corben) in "The Last Son Of Krypton" Part 3

Steel vs. Metallo in "Heavy Metal"

Superman vs. The Parademons in "Apokolips...Now!" Part 2

Dan Turpin vs. The Parademons in the same episode! :D

There's probably lots more but I can't think of any right now...maybe later...

Batman Beyond I'd probably say had the "tightest" fights. By that, I mean they were technically sound, stylish and consistent. But I give my vote to Justice League because they have the monumental task of balancing enourmous powers in an ensemble and actually succeed, sometimes with flying colors. We've done our share of complaining about de-powered Supes, GL's constructs and whatnot, but the fact that they get the teamwork going to the degree they do is quite a feat. When Justice League action scenes work, they really work.

Justice League hands down. If no Justice League then STAS. But the huge fights really all pretty much started with STAS, clearly. That was the animators chance to throw down, especially with the strongest being in the DCAU. And they proved it with the opener with Supes vs the Lexo suit and the finale with "Legacy". Justice League beats it because of the scope of the action, it's really epic with scenes like the Blackhawks, Hawkgirl, and Superman vs the Nazis in "The Savage Time", MM, HG, and Supes vs Brainiac in "Twilight" (not to mention Supes and Darkseid round 2), JL vs SS in "Secret Society", and the list does go on.
