I recently bought the new Warner Brothers DVD "To Have and Have Not" (one of my favorites), and I got around to watching Bacall To Arms tonight...and..
it's dubbed and half computer-colorized. I could'nt find my copy of BTA from the Bob Clampett show for comparison but the new print seemed to have a few jerky transitions. (edited ?) The colorized part of the cartoon is the part showing the audience sitting in the theater. The actors on screen remain in b&w except when Bacall lights her cigarette w/ the blowtorch and when flames follow her as she walks. Does anyone else have this? If so, did it look edited to you?
Next on the agenda: the cartoons on The Treasure Of The Sierra Madre.

If the sequence with the shooting/blackface/smoking bit was there, I can't think of anything else that could be edited.

Oh yeah - the end gag is still there!

That's the way the cartoon was originally made. It wasn't computer colorized. The jerky transitions were also in the original, I am guessing some of the wolf's reactions didn't make it past the Hays office. I don't have the DVD, but it sounds like its is unedited.

I also just snagged "Slick Hare" from the "Dark Passages" DVD rental, and it is a decent dubbed version, but at least it's not time compressed and logo free.

Thanks Jon, that makes a lot of sense! Case closed.

I never knew there was a 'dubbed' version of "Bacall To Arms"! Interesting.
