It was a suprising weekend, of sorts, for the box office. The suspected box office champion Iron Monkey barely made a ripple, and Bandits took off with the prize as the weekend's best new movie. Corky Romano also had a good weekend gross, but will likely dissapear in no time. Here's the top ten for this weekend:

1. Training Day - $13,545,000 ($43.6 mill)
2. Bandits - $13,462,000 ($13.5 mill)
3. Corky Romano - $9,300,000 ($9.3 mill)
4. Srendipity - $9,000,000 ($26.6 mill)
5. Don't Say A Word - $6,7800,000 ($41.8 mill)
6. Iron Monkey - $6,000,000 ($6 mill)
7. Zoolander - $5,100,000 ($35.8 mill)
8. Joyride - $4,870,000 ($14.7 mill)
9. Max Keeble's Big Move - $4,000,000 ($10.9 mill)
10. Hearts In Atlantis - $2,785,000 ($20.7 mill)

A reason why IRON MONKEY is in the mid-spot is because this film has already been available on video. Therefore, most kung-fu fans, like myself, dont need to re-pay $6.00 to see it on the big screen when we already own it. This goes for the Jackie Chan re-issues as well, like FIRST STRIKE and DRUNKEN MASTER, all were re-released and ended up in the same spot where IRON MONKEY is now.

Unlike CROUCHING TIGER..and RUSH HOUR, since those films are fresh and brand new, they are able to take the B.O. by storm because nobody has already seen them.
