OK - I'm trying to make a list of all the characters tht each Tiny toon was based off of:

Buster Bunny - Bugs Bunny
Babs Bunny - Bugs Bunny/Honey (?)
Plucky Duck - Daffy Duck
Hamton Pig - Porky Pig
Fowlmouth Chicken - Foghorn Leghorn
Fifi LeFume - Pepe LePew
Elmyra Duff - Elmer Fudd
Montana Max - Yosemite Sam
Dizzy Devil - Tasmanian Devil
Gogo Dodo - Wackyland Dodo
Furball And Sweetie - Sylvester And Tweety
Tyrone Turtle - Cecil Turtle
Calamity Coyote - Wile E. Coyote
Little Beeper - Road Runner
Barky Marky - Marc Anthony/Frisky Puppy
Marsha Martian - Marvin Martian
Sneezer - Sniffles

I cant remember the little mexican mouse's name from the "High Toon" episode, but I can bet he was Speedy influenced though he didnt have speed

I know I'm probably missing a lot? Who did or didnt have any correlations to an already existing LT? I dont think Shirley The Loon had any previous characters that were like her.

Mary Melodie is, of course, from "Merrie Melodies". I don't know who the heck Shirley's supposed to be based off of.....perhaps that female duck in that.....uh.....y'know, the episode with Daffy's owner, Agnes, and her father. Does anyone know what the H-E double hockey sticks I'm talking about?!

Other than that, I think you pretty much covered it. I think.

Concord Condor - Beaky Buzzard.

I think that mouse was named Pedro. Shirley struck me as being like Babs - a female version of an older male character, in this case Daffy. In some episodes she's set up as Plucky's quasi-girlfriend the way Buster and Babs are. But ultimately, she's just Shirley MacLaine.

Elmyra's family all seem to have names drawn from MacBeth.

As to Speedy's protegee, in the lead-in to the first You Asked For It there were pics lof all the Tiny Toonsters. Included was a mouse in a nice blue & white outfit. That was Lightning Rodriguez, Speedy's protegee. Unfortunately, that was all we saw of him, due to pressure from certain interest groups. Some minority members have this idea that people of their particular demographics can not be fairly or accurately portrayed in cartoons or other media, which imo results in loss for said demographics.

As to Elmyra's family, some were named for MacBeth characters (father MacArthur, brother Duncan). Others, not. Mother, Emily. Sister, Amanda. Baby, well, e never did find out the baby's name, did we? Oh, & the maid's name was Queegee Bananaho. I hear she later worked for Lola. And her catchphrase might've inspired similar phrases by Randy Beaman's Friend & Mindy; otoh, how hard could it be to come up with such a phrase?

Lightning Rodriguez? How interesting...

Does a picture of him exist anywhere on the web?

Poor Speedy always gets the shaft of the looney Tunes. And coincidentally he would be my favorite character out of all of them too... :(

Whoa, there was a Speedy protegee on Tiny Toons? One of you fanatics with tapes get me a screenshot NOW, I want to add that to my Speedy Gonzales page on my site. As for "Pedro", I think he was Speedy influenced, but he wasn't a mose, he was a chihuahua, I'm pretty sure.

There's no MacArthur in MacBeth. I thought his name was Mac. Emily and them kind of slice up my Shakespearian theory, though. What was the maid's catchphrase?

There was also the rarely used Bookworm, probably from the bookworm in "Sniffles and the Bookworm".

I remember him, he was Sniffles' friend in several other cartoons (like "Toy Trouble" and "The Egg Collector"). I thought it was strange how they paired him with Sweetie rather than Sneezer. Then again, Sneezer has absolutely nothing in common with Sniffles, so the chemistry would have been all wrong.

I LOVED Sweetie's "Let's do Lunch!":D

Since Bookworm ran the library on occasion, I figured he was considered an old school Looney Tune faculty member and not an authentic Tiny Toon.

In old Tiny Toons magazines I used to get, Bookworm was listed as one of the Tiny Toons.

I liked it when Sweety called a mini-Plucky in gum a "Chicken McBugget"

Well, in the tv spot in Take Elmyra, Please, he was referred to as MacArthur Duff. Mac to his friends & family, I'm sure. Mac Duff, it still works. And the maid's catchphrase was "Okkay, bye-bye", sometimes followed by "thank you".

On another subject, Sweetie also called a miniaturized (in his dream) Dizzy a McBugget.

Wasn't there a female Duck in one of the Daffy shorts who looked a bit like Shirley?

I'm not sure what it's called but I believe you can see it as part of the compilation movie Daffy Duck's Quackbusters.

That would be The Duxorcist (Ford & Lennon --- I think, 1987), wherein Daffy exorcises a certain little white duck, even getting time for a little romance in there. Am I the only one who noticed when she was cleansed she had a Southern accent. Imo this was Daphne, Daffy's wife & Shirley's mother (according to the fanfic Shirley Comes Home). There's quite a diversity of opinions on Daffy's romances. Kevin has a theory of Daffy's seven wives; I don't think there's been that many, but that's just me.

On another note, welcome to the newest member of toonzone, finbarlafume, a mailing list friend from Ireland. Member #700, no less. You're going to enjoy this place, I hope. I'll do my best. Eric you know about; the other mod, Colin, wrote one of my favorite TTA fanfics, Welcome Back!; also Snow Loon, the Space Duck fics, & Till Death Do Us Part. Anyway, like I said, glad to have you aboard. Landmark posts should be special occasions, & my 450th is certainly that. Thanks for making it so.

Just from memoery I know Daffy had at least five wives ("The Henpecked Duck," "Nasty Quacks," "The Stupid Cupid," "Quackodile Tears," and "His Bitter Half"). Daffy never had succesful relationships it seems, I even one included something about that in a silly Looney Tunes at Radio City story I made, but later edited it out.

Daffy was also married in "Wise Quacks" and "Stork Naked".

Actually, Speedy's protege was named Lightrod, and I have a model sheet of him on a CD rom..I'll post it here when I find it! In the meantime, Pedro wasn't a mouse. He was a chihuahua!:)

--a blonde female duck in "Muscle Tussle", who dumped Daf for a muscle-bound ape of a duck ("Y'all can call me 'Shorty!'). Though Shirl's more MacLaine than anything else (as is, BTW, Joan of Arc on Histeria).
I suppose Mr. Pig, Hammy's dad, was modeled a bit after Porky's poppa in a couple of early Clampetts...
And there was an Egghead in the short where Plucky cheats on one of Foggy's exams that may be some relation to Avery's protoElmer Egghead (but with McKimson's Egghead's brains).

EDITED TO ADD
I just saw Freleng's "A Kiddie's Kitty" last night on Cartoon Network, and I'm now convinced that Suzannah was the spiritual predecessor of Elmyra (esp. the way she takes Sylvester down the stairs, conking his head on each step). "Can I have a real live kitty? Their heads don't come off as easy!"

I don't watch TTA anymore, but I have seen a flea family who lived on Furrball. Were they based on that flea from TO ITCH HIS OWN?

DR. BELCH

On the fleas--they appeared in two episodes, and I recall reading one reviewer who likened them to a Disneyish parody (Jim Cummings used the same voice for Boss Tick that he used for the fat cat in Rescue Rangers. Watch also for Cree Summer's imitation of a young Katherine Hepburn!

Shirley's rogue aura in "Pluck Twacy" is actually Hata Mari from the WWII-era short "Plane Daffy", but with a Queens accent rather than a German one.
