Anime Character Dolls -- Life Sized

    Like This Thread!

I ran across something really odd: The Web site for a Japanese store that sells life-sized anime character dolls from a number of different series. First link is to their home page with views of their showroom, 2nd link is to their online catalog. Text is all Japanese.

If I got the exchange rate right, each of these dolls is around $2,000-$3,000 a copy, plus shipping. The dolls are articulated and poseable, and the store offers alternate outfits from series that you can dress your character doll in.

I saw characters from Eva, Tenchi, Chobits and more. I didn't notice any Inuyasha characters, though. (The idea of someone buying a life-sized poseable Kikyo doll inspires thoughts too weird for polite company.)

    Links are:

    https://secure.pmoon.co.jp/TOUSHINDAI/index.html

    https://secure.pmoon.co.jp/TOUSHINDAI/Chara/Chara.html

But what an addition to your anime home theater (assuming you're rich enough to afford one and the doll, too)! Either that, or the store owners think there are a lot of rich, lonely anime fans out there. (^_*)

Anyone who is willing to buy those things must need a lot of therapy. Or maybe it's just me.

Those things look fairly cute, but let's get real. Who outside a few no-life fairly well off fanboys are gonna buy these things?

These Real Doll(TM) (which I won't link obviously) imitation anime figures pop up every now and then when somebody newly discovers them. But they are really old news, and they do sell, even a used market, and you wouldn't believe who buys them sometimes.

    Wow!

I look up those links and I saw Sasami as Pretty Sammy, Ryoko, Ruri (from Nadesico), and SNK character Nakoruru.

If I had the Cash I'd get Asuka, Rei and those 5' Tall Gundam Kits..

considering the ammount of DVDs and other crap I have, I don't see how those would make me look much more like a geek..

I said it before, and I'll say it again:
for 2000-3000$, you get a real girl to dress up as an anime charicter and act the part too. Then you'd have your own anime-charicter slave.

the reaction to the last time these dolls were brought up: http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?t=85212

personally, I still think my case mod idea would be cool (turn your life sized chobit into a computer,) and with nano-itx technology coming soon, it would need fan vents or anything.

If only they made a Dorothy. Then, there'd be a perfect spot for a DVD-ROM.

Or you could just find a girlfriend who likes and Anime and get them to Cosplay.

These ones aren't, they're just like the fashion models you see in Clothing stores.

There are ones called "Real Dolls" which have textured "skin" and several "Access Points" in various areas... but they offically licensed merchandise like these.

I remember seeing anime life-sized dolls while surfing through Japanese websites before. They were selling along side of the life sized Star Wars stormtroopers. I think these are just for over zealous fans.

So it would be even cheaper to get one of those dolls built by an Adult Doll maker online? Let's see. The best kind on the market with all of the extra's can run for $800-$1,050. That sounds better than spending $3,000 on a lifeless manican.
