I'm going to say Maze. I plan on buying it sometime soon, and it seems like an anime that's not widely known.
Hey, just posting this for Mynd Hed since he seems to have forgotten (nearly C&Ped exactly from last month, but hey, the rules don't change!):
It's a new month again, and that means it's time to submit our nominations for Anime of the Month. Just in case anybody's new to the way things work or just needs a refresher:
The Anime of the Month is meant to highlight anime that might not otherwise get any exposure and allow everyone to expose themselves to something new that they might not otherwise have seen. Ideally, everyone will nominate and vote for an anime that they haven't seen, but would like to. Only one nomination per board member will be accepted. Any nominations after your first will be ignored, so don't bother. I do take multiple nominations of the same title into account when deciding what should go on the poll-- all else being equal, if more people nominated one title over another, then the title with the most nominations will probably be the one selected.
Other criteria:
* Previous Animes of the Month cannot be nominated, which currently rules out Excel Saga, GTO, Read or Die, and Kare Kano (His and Her Circumstances).
* Any anime which has been shown on widely available American television during the past few years (which mostly rules out anything on TechTV, Cartoon Network, Fox Kids, etc.) is ineligible, since it probably doesn't need any more exposure.
* Only anime that has been officially released in the U.S. is eligible. No offense, fansubbers, but we like to keep everything 100% legal here. Mucking around in legal and ethical "gray areas" tends to cause more trouble than it's worth, at least as far as Toonzone is concerned. What you do in the privacy of your own home is none of our business. (-:
* Anime television series, feature-length movies, and OVAs are all equally acceptable. In the case of releases spanning multiple DVD and/or VHS releases, though, the discussion will primarily focus on the first volume in order to minimize costs for those who wish to participate. Discussion of later releases is allowed, but spoilers beyond the first volume should be omitted or placed in spoiler tags.
If you have any comments or suggestions on how to improve the selection process or just the concept in general, please feel free to post those. And as always, any questions can be posted on this thread or directed to myself via PM.

Current Avatar: Mikuru Asahina from "The melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya".
R.I.P Un-cut Pretty Cure.
Haruhisim.
I'll nonimate Knight Hunters (Weis Kreuz)
animation runner kuromi, because it's one dvd, and I own it.
I second that. I just picked it up yesterday and loved it.Originally Posted by Karl Olson
Or how about Witch Hunter Robin? The first DVD comes out in a couple of days and I imagine it's a title that a large chunk of people on TZ will be getting anyways.
To me it's obvious...Noir.

I would say Revolutionary Girl Utena. It certainly doesn't get enough exposure, and I think a lot of people will like it if they just give it a shot.
If you dig games, movies and other interesting topics, come and listen to the Happy Pineapple.com Podcasts, hosted by Scott and Erin. Be gentle, we're still learning...
I'm at a toss up between Animation Runner Kuromi and Witch Hunter Robin, I'l have a decision later.......

I going to come from left field this month and suggest Photon, a little-known, six episode OAV from the mid-ninties from the creators of Tenchi Muyo.
Bt X
I saw that on eBay one time and have been interrested in seeing it. I'd probably track it down if it was voted in. (Although, I'd buy it anyway, even if it didn't get picked.Originally Posted by Andy Mancini

Third Kuromi. I was planning on getting it soon, so it would be nice to have an actual reason why.
If you get put in solitary, it ****ing sucks. I was put in there just because they had me in double-lock maximum security, and it's the most tedious ****ing thing. I can't think of anything more boring. There's a Japanimation cartoon I've been trying to watch on Cartoon Network called Witch Hunter Robin, and that's almost as boring.

Oh yeah. Damn, I am so iching to get it. Argh, y does it have to be so long a wait.Originally Posted by Poser Wannabe
My second nomination would have gone to Haibane Renmei but then again I haven't seen it till the end. I don't think it's available yet either.
Well, I guess I'm going with Jubei Chan the ninja girl.
