    well... if you're sure...

    Spoiler:

Beware, if you like the series, pretend that the Reflection OVA is like Tenchi in Tokyo. an Altiverse style OVA which you don't have to even compare to the real series (this is all the more easier, because they make alot of changes to what happened in the Rurouni Kenshin series... Primarily removing every bit of joy or fun from the series as the OVA remembers it that being said...)

    Spoiler:

This OVA is about How Kenshin Dies. that's about it.
It spends the majority of it's time recovering all of the events of the series in an abreviated OVA animation style. then ending it.

In it we see Miss Kelrou as she lay sick from some disease.
the OVA cuts between her rememberances of the past, Yahiko's search for Kenji (Kenshin and Kelrou's son), and Sanosuke's search for Kenshin somewhere in China where he went to help the government.

    in the end...

you still sure you want to read this?

    in the end...

You should stop here, and remember kenshin from the series and pretend this didn't happen.

    Anyway...

    Spoiler:

Yahiko finds Kenji training with Kenshin's master. and gets Kenji to give up the training and see his mom. They go back to Tokyo and they forgive each other for nameless history which we don't see.

Sanosuke finds Kenshin who is sick and on the verge of death. He helps him get well enough to survive a ship ride back to Japan and then Disappears into nameless China.

The final scene has Kelrou who has disappeared from her bed and Kenshin stumbling toward the bridge. they see each other and shamble into each other's arms.

It's all flowery, and Kelrou Calls him Shinta (His boyhood origonal name) and says how they should celebrate. But he's dead in her lap of the same disease what is ravaging her.

As depressing Death Scenes go, it's all well and good. But as someone who abhors death scenes of heros unless it's a death in battle. (A death in peace is a private thing which I don't like being shown in such a manner.)

    ok, that's all I've got.

Hmmm... I guess this should be in spoiler too...

    Spoiler:

I realize that it's all part of Balance and all that crap that you get from Undergrad Film courses, but I get plenty Balance from Reality and Don't need fiction for killing off Heros.

I'd rather have simply gotten a "And they lived hapily to the end of their days" than find out the details.

Whatever. I'm working under the belief that this is an Altiverse ending, and not true to Ruroni Kenshin. While there was death and horror in the TV series, the OVA omits joy and laughter. The TV series knew that laughter is an important part of life, and the OVA's refusal to include laughter other than evil laughter damages it's legitimacy.

I do not recomend watching the OVA "Reflections". Trust and Betrayal are good as precursors... but they're the only good OVAs in my opinion

Reflections is actually quite important being that it raps everything up in Kenshin. Not watching it would be like not finishing the last 2 or 3 episodes of any series.

Actually, a more appropriate comparison would be:

"It would be like reading "the Red Badge of Courage" and not reading the short story "The Old Man" which shows how the main character dies an old man. Personally I could have done without doing that as well.

No it does'nt. If you really want to see how kenshin ends read the manga. The only good thing about it was we alteast got to see Enshi animated.
