    Fanime announcements continue... (07:17 PM EST): ...as our contacts at Fanime have reported from the ADV Films panel. According to Andrew Tei, ADV Films has acquired Wedding Peach as well as MegaZone 23, which apparently includes all three parts. We've also been told that Funimation had no announcements to make at Fanime due to things not being finalized for a particular contract yet.

    The no Funi is a bit of a disappointment, but we'll get some at a later con. However ...


    YES! Megazone 23 has finally been licensed! This is the precursor to RahXephon and other modern series. It also popularized the OAV market for anime. I've been wanting to see this for the longest time. I'm glad ADV is bringing us some older, classic anime.

    Well, I knew something was up. FUNimation wouldn't have just told me they were, if they weren't. It's just a contract thing. I expect the announcement to be forthcoming. They said one of their announcements was going to be a big surprise, which I reported about previously at AI. I wonder what that surprise acquisition could be...

    It could be Wolf's Rain, Captain Tsubassa, Naruto, a Gundam series(I know it's Bandai, but everyone thought Tenchi GXP was exclusive to Pioneer), Boys Be, Hajime No Ippo, or something. I hope it's not Naruto since, FUNi has enough long series. Maybe Media Blasters can aquire that title.

    Contract not finalized? Is it possible they meant to announce One Piece or Kiddy Grade on Adult Swim?

    Not every convention appearance has to announce a new series after all.

    Yes, but FUNi was supposed to announce a new acquisition today.(Yesterday)

    So........I guess they haven't sealed the deal completely.

    And so the holding of breath until Funi does its next big announcement continues. Personally, if I were to choose between nothing and a One Piece status announcement, I would do the latter. But I guess Funi wants to hold off a bit longer on that too.....

    BTW: I doubt "Naruto" will be "too short" for long. If both the manga and anime remain popular, it could be on for a while. Remember that Pierrot also likes making long series.....

    ...anyways, with Funi not annoucing anything, it just means that the anime fans are gonna be in the dark on what's going on in Funi's side....
