How about Ghost in the Shell? They made such big deals out of some of the storys that were no more than 15 pages like the garbage truck driver.

I haven't read a whole lot of manga but one anime I am dissapointed in was Silent Mobius. I read the first volume of the manga from Viz and I thought it was very interesting. When I watdhed the anime series, it was not as interesting as the manga. I have a friend who said the Love Hina manga is better than the anime, but I wouldn't know. He also prefers Cowboy Bebop the anime, over Cowboy Bebop the manga.
Well, CB the manga is actually based on CB the anime, not the other way around, so it's not surprising that the quality drops drastically, especially considering how relatively full of constant motion CB the anime is.
As to Ghost in the Shell, it would really have been impossible to stick the whole manga in the film. Witness Blade Runner vs. Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? I think GitS is a similar case. They did a very good job adapting it, but they cut a great deal of wordy explanation, instead emphasizing the film forte--symbolic expression. The whole "picture speaks a thousand words" applies here, except here it's "fifteen seconds of film speak a thousand manga frames."![]()
I drew it. Anthro version of myself (No, that is NOT my real hair color) with the general reaction I had to the Gluhen character designs.Originally posted by Leaping Larry Jojo

Ghost in the Shell the Movie takes the cake
I"s is a close second
I always thought that the Sailor Moon series designs were trash compared to Naoko Takeuchi's beautiful manga art.

Actually, from what I read of the manga (3 volumes), it's nearly identical to the anime, except the anime just adds a lot more extra stuff. The anime has the same storyline that the manga does; it just takes a little longer to get to it.
Of course, I haven't read the entire manga, so if it does something different at the end, then I don't know.
I prefere the pokemon manga (the Ono one, dont have enough of Adventures to coment) to the series...
I don't know. Personally, Takeuchi's shoujo-style just does not work for me with all of the curves she uses. (no, not THAT kind of curve) I know it is typical, but I just can't seem to read the manga. (which I heard has several interesting plot turns in itself, but I happened to like some of the anime interpretations of the characters more)Originally posted by BrendaBat

And don't even get me started on X: The Motion Picture. I haven't even read the manga, yet I know how bare bones it is.
StrangerAtaru: Just another one of those weirdo lurker guys with a screwed up mind and a Zako army at his command
Neon Genesis Evangelion.
I'm not saying the anime is bad, on the contrary its one of the best, but the manga just has a ton of stuff that would've made it a hell of a lot better.
X the movie was trash next to the manga. I don't like Takeuchi's style either I love her use of colors but the style just dosen't do anything for me.
Let me out.
the Evangelion Manga is based off the show not the other way around. If I'm not mistaken, it hasn't even been completed yet.
Love Hina- the pesronalities in the manga are much more beleivable, and Naru is alot less violent toward Keitaro. pluss tere is more fanservice, which is always good (in my book).
it was really vague at poins tho. it really made you read into things reeeaallll hard.
Dragonball- this is obvious, especially in the latter parts (the Z version) without all the filler garbage that's in the show, it makes the fights and story elements flow alot better.
Are you sure? I didn't think NGE was an OVA.the Evangelion Manga is based off the show not the other way around. If I'm not mistaken, it hasn't even been completed yet.
It probably has been completed in Japan, the US is so behind on manga.
