I've already seen Yu-Gi-Oh, the show sucks quite bad. As for ever seeing Outlaw Star, Tenchi, or Gundam. They'll never show them, It wouldn't get pass the censors.
Well, from what I have seen by commercials and videos that I have seen and the fact that it is made by KidsWB or one of their affiliates, I think it will work out great for KidsWB as long as they don't shove it on the weekdays unless they keep the Toonami catch then it won't do that bad. Now the anime style idea is a great one since kids today see anime and say "WOW! that looks like DragonBall Z!!!! Let's watch it" you could also replace DBZ with Outlaw Star, Tenchi, Card Captors, Gundam, and the many others shown in America (on Cartoon Network[praise it!!!]). But that's probably going to be the big catch for the young ones the story line is probably get the older members of the viewing audience. ok now for the competition to the other channels, well FOX is going to bring out a whole load of shows during the run of Yu-Gi-Oh! that will give it a tough time they are: Digimon Season 3, Mon Colle Knights, and Medabots. These all have anime style drawing and the great story lines from Japan so it will tough for Yu-Gi-Oh, but there are still many that feel the burn from when FOX screwed them over with Escaflowne by cutting it VERY MUCH they took 4 episodes worth out and only showed 10 episodes if even that. Of course WB almost didi the same thing with CCS but it wasn't the cutting but the showing out of order that did it, I still don't think they have showed the first actual episode, but they at least have fixed that with the new season which has made everyone happy. So in conclusion Yu-Gi-Oh may have a hard time but it will survive.

From your post, I see there is a Digimon season 3...(mumbles) Great. NNew chars that copy the old ones YET again; the kid from season 2 will becomw the vet of the new group, I bet.
A pity that they do not show animes with INTERESTING stories, maybe it would attract older viewers? No, they gotta go with the "ten year old is what we want for target" thing...there's more than a few older people who'd watch these animes that cannot go on...we need somethin' with PLOT! And not little monsters...

Interesting story's nomally have fighting, Fox doesn't want too much of that. Hell, they edited Beast Wars for crying out loud!

They do have adult animes on Cartoon Network, although even those suffer editing. Still, a lot of what does get through is still pretty racy, like the Twister scene in Sailor Moon, or the dame who pulled a Brody off a Gundam in Mobile Suit while Amuro watched in horror, or Malfina's nudity in Outlaw Star.
RockItShipper didn't care for Yugio, and since we generally agree on this sort of thing, I've got a feeling I'll need to get drunk to watch that show (I don't usually drink, but this new fall schedule is enough to make a man start!)....
I have flamed this show before, but evidently, my wrath was so great it scared away all readers and nobody saw it.![]()
Yugi-Oh is possibly one of the worst anime shows I have ever seen. And I'm EASY on a lot of shows. Definitely bottom 5 material. Pokemon and Voltron are Citizen Kanes compared Yugi-oh.
Ah, so in Mobile Suit Gundam they have aired the death of Garma and later, his girlfriend Icelina, by now. What did you think of the episode where Amuro went home to mama, Dr. B? Yeesh. Thanks a lot, Ma!

Saturday morning is for kids, not adults.
I am looking forward to Digimon season 3.
There are quite a few kid's anime that have interesting stories, if you focus mainly on the character depth and interactions.Originally posted by Sveven Dvorking

Mobile Suit Gundam, the original 1979 version, was intended for a younger audience than many of the later Gundams.
Card Captor Sakura was definitely a kid's show that managed to somewhat transcend its marketing trappings and focus on character interaction and emotions for many episodes (naturally, a lot of this was edited out of the U.S. version to make room for the pretty action--which IS pretty). The original airings in Japan were followed by a message to viewers to behave themselves and work hard in their studies, etc,. They also showed drawings of Card Captor Sakura by 8-10 year olds during commercial time.
There are others, but Japanese children's tastes run the gamut from all-action to all-romance or in-between.
Carpcaptors has a lot of char development?! Hm. Maybe I should give it a watch....
...and I don't WANT everything 'adult'. I do enjoy some of the kids stuff, particuraly the WB silver age stuff. It's just that what anime I DO see tends to just focus on the action instead of plot...which gets boring after a while...
....okay, I just DO want you to know that I think high of Digimon season 1 at least. THAT was interesting, though I never got to watch it much....But Digi-2, I dunno. Does not the new leader look just like Tai (leader's name of Digi-1, if I do believe)? And we get another 'kid', as well as a new brainiac and a supposed tough-girl gal pal for the leader...why not keep Digi-1's chars? (and I really am curious to that)

Read my post again. I specified Card Captor SAKURA. Cardcaptors is a more inconsistent animal, and is also quite a different show.Originally posted by BorgeoisBuffoon

As for action over plot...well, that is true for Dragon Ball Z, but much of the shows are EDITED to be more action than plot. A lot of the character stuff is edited out. I guess Tenchi is the least action-oriented and more sitcom...and I GUESS Mobile Suit Gundam has a few "quiet" episodes...or 08th MS Team, at least, can be character oriented...
But as I said, U.S. companies only pick up action-oriented anime because U.S. animated SHOWS are also mostly action oriented...and the other end of the animated spectrum is comedy. And since Japanese comedy doesn't fly well with the U.S., they don't get over here. Animated romances don't fly at all unless they are accompanied with action (like 08th MS Team, which is basically a romance) And forget animated historical fiction like Rose of Versailles, which would NEVER make it on a U.S. network...
I personally don't think too highly of Digimon. It tries to be a serious character drama at times, but the characters always get shortchanged to focus on the Digimon. After all, it IS called Digimon. With Pokemon, it's more of a comedy, so the fact that it doesn't take itself seriously is something I can watch easier. Pokemon KNOWS that sometimes it IS stupid, and is not afraid of self-parody. I can stand toyetic shows (actually...all kid's cartoons are toyetic--don't tell me otherwise) like Mobile Suit Gundam because the Gundams are simple tools--they don't talk, therefore they don't take up screen time that is rightfully devoted to the PEOPLE behind the mecha.

I myslef am a new Gundam fan as soon as I saw Wing i was hooked, i looked for everything Gundam and oooohhhed and aaaaaaahhhed.......then i matured and saw the real thing behind it all. I started to see and understand the plot and story not just the action. So when i heard the two Gundams i wanted to see, the coveted MS Gundam and the war replica 08th MS Team, were coming to CN I said to myself "Yes!! this will be a thing of beauty".
I had seen how CN ( and the company who has the american rights) had handled Wing with EVERYTHING kept intact. So I sat down i started watching it knowing plot would be the major part of the show. I was amazed with both of them. I would liek to say something about 08th MS Team.... it was short but very great (is that possible?) and I enjoyed every moment and I left me wanting more, wonderful plot, just the right amount of action, love, heart, emotions.....man i am so passionate about that show, -goes into Gundamcraze mode- IT MADE ME WANT TO BUILD A GUNDAM AND BATTLE-exits Gundamcraze mode-.......ok i'm ok..... anyways I just wanted to talk about Gundam.( I pray CN gets all the rest of the Gundams!!!).
Note: People down in Texas are making mobile suits to help farm crops and drill for oil, i mean actual 50 to 100 foot mobile suits. Oh yeah they have government funding....from the military. This information is from a government newsletter to the public about the expirments going on down there.
Chilling. She tells him he's become such a violent boy and that she doesn't know him anymore. Not very tactful. So he basically loses it and takes out his rage on the enemy. She seemed to be trying to apologize for what she said in the end there, but he wouldn't hear it.L.L. Jojo:
What did you think of the episode where Amuro went home to mama, Dr. B?
I've been waiting for poor long-suffering Frau Bow to jump into a Mobile Suit and join the fray--although Saliah beat her to it (and took some pretty hefty censuring for her rash actions).
I'm surprised they showed Icelina's body getting buried--not even a coffin, or a discreet grave with a marker; they just tossed her dead body in a pit and threw dirt on her. I'm still not 100 percent sure whether her fall was accidental or deliberate, or a little of both, but still--chilling thing for a four p.m. slot!
4 pm? i see it at 5 Pm
Different times in different place's. It come's on at 2 p.m.4 pm? i see it at 5 Pm

If you don't like your options, make another option.
That's the sort of thinking that keeps cartoons in the shadows of American entertainment. The genius of the Silver Age WB stuff was that they could appeal to kids AND adults. Same for their predecessors like Bullwinkle or Beany & Cecil. There's refs that went over my head when I watched Bullwinkle as a kid, but now I get it & enjoy it that much more. There's some stuff I'm surprised made it past the censors. For instance: "Troilus & Cressida, there was a pair; they were in love & she had an affair." See what I mean? I won't dis the adult audience; hey, many of us are adults.Originally posted by Sveven Dvorking

Ah, sorry about the Card Captor confusion....thanks for clearing me up.
Well, I will admit about how Digimon goes on to go focus on Digimon, but it TRIES to keep a good focus on the humans as well....I liked that. But yes, action shows are what get the most money for stations, unfortuantly....
....Nftnat made a point, cartoons can still appeal to everyone of all ages. I remember managing to see an eppy of Animaniacs....when I saw it as a little ki, I liked it for its slapstick, but as I was older now when seeing the eppy, I had to laugh at all the in jokes....those Silver Age cartoons did find good ways to keep a person a fan of the series for years to come....
