Dorulumon and Cutemon have up to this episode been ciphers. We didn't quite know who they were, or what they were about. But when we saw them and their brief interactions added to the intrigue - Why would two clearly different personalities be together?
This episode provides us with an answer, and it's surprisingly dark. It's the story of a war refugee seeking his parents in the middle of a war. It's one of the nightmares brought about by conflict - families being torn apart, the lost of love ones, and so on. Digimon has always dealt with mature matters (without getting too grim that is), and it's nice to see that Fusion doesn't back down. Points for finally seeing the POV of a Digimon with parents.
Of course, this episode doesn't devulge too much into Dorulumon. We do get tidbits and hints, but no clear information yet. However, he's not really the main focus of the episode - Cutemon, and limiting the focus is nice without trying to muddle the whole story.
"What does love look like? It has the hands to help others. It has the feet to hasten to the poor and needy. It has eyes to see misery and want. It has the ears to hear the sighs and sorrows of men. That is what love looks like." ~ St. Augustine of Hippo
