OP and ED music language option

    Like This Thread!
I thought of an idea, a great option to add to watching animes on DVD / Blu Ray. Animes that have english versions of OP and ED like One Piece, Dragon Ball animes, etc.

Why not have an option that you can watch the english dub versions with the original Japense OP and ED. Or vice versa (though I can't imagine people that watch the original Japanese versions are puriest, that would not be interested in english versions of anything)

    So what do yuo think?

There's not that much anime out there nowadays besides One Piece and DB (which you mentioned) that even dub songs in the first place. There's no need to have a feature like that since people who like the dub but don't like the dub songs can just quickly switch over to it. I imagine most people who like the dub are fine with the dub songs, however, and likewise for the sub watchers.

If anything, an option like that would be more work since they'd have to go through the trouble of selecting it instead of just switching the audio with the press of a button.

I have watched a lot of shows, and I can't think of that many with dubbed openings or endings. Those songs are sometimes sung by popular bands (Trinity Blood's OP is by Buck Tick for instance) so it sometimes a better idea to keep them even if the rest is dubbed.

I think dubbed openings use to be a lot more popular back when there was a huge (or fairly vast at least) selection of anime on TV and even when you bought DVDs of shows not on TV you would be expecting a bit of that kind of quality. Now though anime is more focused on DVD and people are expecting more faithful represneations of the medium with how easy it is to know if something was mistranslated or not. I mean there use to be a lot of dub/english openings of DVD only shows here (like Kiddy Grade) but I think those days are over as really seems like a waste of money now for companies when people just want to see the original openings anyway with subtitles. I think the people who care the most about trasnlating opening now are fandubbers, not professional companies.
Instead of just using this new signature to celebrate a thousand more post, let me list of all the great things you can expect of me on this board for 2012:

...... The same talkbacks you saw me do last year but with new episodes.

This would be great for me with Dragonball GT. I like the dub, but the Japanese opening is soo much better.

Anyway, nowadays openings are usually left untouched so its kind of a nonissue, but that is a good idea regardless.
