Gene Simmons' son plagarizes Bleach to make crappy comic, gets served by internet

    Like This Thread!
So KISS' frontman Gene Simmons has a son who apparently got to make a comic with Radical Publishing (for no reason other than being the son of someone famous I'm assuming) titled Incarnate. Being "famous" for just being related to someone famous means you're much too busy to you know, actually work, so rather than attempt to make an original work, he thought he could just steal giant sections of the Bleach manga and no one would notice cause it's a book from a small publisher that no one would read.

    Turns out he was wrong.

Amazingly, Radical acknowledges all of this and does the right thing by "Taking things seriously" and halting production and distribution of the book till it can work things out, so it seems there is a happy ending
Yup. It's a signature. Go away if you're expecting something interesting here.

Well, good for Radical Publishing for its prompt action first of all. Some of that plagiarism is incredibly blatant (that Kenpachi clone...ugh); it's incredible to me that anyone really thinks they can get away with it, especially in this internet age of maximum scrutiny.
I would suggest that it's not the medium, but the quality of perception and expression, that determines the significance of art. But what would a cartoonist know? -Bill Watterson

well thats whay you get for plagerizing....although the series isn't really exactly the same as bleach it would seem...but hopefully the writer learned a lesson and will not copy other comics & manga series character designs & ideas from now on.

Maybe he can get away with "imitation is the best form of flattery" excuse?

The Orihime clone is still hot.

Its one thing to immitate, but its a whole other deal when you literally trace stuff strait from the manga and then paste it into your work, thats just laziness and disrespectful.

Holy...! Nick Simmons is so shameless to just retrace and lift entire panels from Bleach, and thought he could get away with it. I'm so glad that this plagiarism was caught and the publisher did the right thing.

As a fantasy author myself, I was going to comment on how easy it is to stray towards that line between "inspiration" and "copying," but this is just a wee bit too much to just write off.

It's even more shameful that the actual content is really lacking and too much into the ultra violence. I swear that entire preview was of an Alucard clone just killing random things. Didn't really appeal to me.

He copied Bleach for this? C'mon!

That alucard guy is basically a fusion of Ulquiorra and Alucard, theres another guy who is obvious Crocodile trom One Piece, this thing takes things from Yu-Gi-Oh!, Bleach, Hellsing, Vampire Hunter D, NANA, Dogs: Bullets & Carnage, Deadman Wonderland, Fullmetal Alchemist, One Piece... and thats just whats been discovered.

There is literaly not a shred of originality anywhere with this guy.

Can't speak for the story, from what I've seen he's also borrowing direct material from other manga. You can kinda get away with that if you put your own spin on it and improve on the existing ideas to make it your own (Bleach is not hard to correct, of all things out there)

...But I don't know...if you're really struggling with art skills, and you're the son of a well-known and respected rock star, wouldn't that be a good sales pitch to get a decent artist on board?

A similar thing happened a couple of years ago where an artist was fired from Archie Comics. Specifically, he retraced characters into the Sonic X comic from screenshots of the anime. There were several topics on Sonic boards and eventually word got into the Archie editors.

I should know, as I made a couple of comparison pictures.

Silly guy. Doesn't he know that you can only get away with copying unknown manga. When you copy a super-popular manga, thats asking for trouble.

    Plagarism is bad, mmkay?

Messing with shounen jump fans, a fandom which embraces the internet and has an almost obsessive attention to detail? Really? Why don't you just try taking licensed costumes while you're at it?

Looks like Mr. Simmons' writing career is over before it even began. The ripoff level is just egregious.

    Wow...

How talentless do you have to be to rip-off Bleach? That's beyond scraping the bottom of the barrel. That's licking the undersides of it.

Nick Simmons, on behalf of the fan boy and girl community please accept this Pyrite Space Black Knight award. You've earned it.
