Kenshin confuses me
Ok. I heard Kenshin and Samurai X are the same thing. So how come there are different DVDs with different titles? Were duplicates made or can't they decide on a title?
Ehhh...the story is more complex than I can explain in one post.
Suffice to say, the ones currently out now are of the same character, but released by different companies. "Samurai X" is an OAV mini-series about Kenshin's past released by ADV, while "Rurouni Kenshin" is the TV series released by Mediablasters.
There is also a "Samurai X" movie, also released by ADV.
So in summary,
Both about the same character.
Alrighty....then what order should one watch to get the best effect?
Any order you want, in my opinion. Many people say that you should watch the TV series before you can appreciate the OAV, but some people said the OAV made them appreciate the TV series more.
WARNING: The OAV and TV series have vastly different tones. The OAV is as dark as the darkest Kurosawa flick, while the TV series starts off as an action-comedy before it turns into an action-drama series. If you get too attached to one of them, you could be disappointed by the tone of the other.
