This will be the first anime adaptation of Mitsutoshi Shimabukuro's Toriko manga. The shorts will also celebrate the 10th anniversary of Naruto's magazine serialization by Masashi Kishimoto, the first One Piece movie directly supervised by manga creator Eiichiro Oda, and the 10th anniversary of the Yu-Gi-Oh! television premiere. Last year's Jump Super Anime Tour featured the first new Dragon Ball anime episode in years, the first anime adaptation of the early One Piece "pilot" manga, the first anime adaptation of the Tegami Bachi manga, a Bleach side story, a Blue Dragon short, and a Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's special. The tour travelled to 10 Japanese cities last fall.

There have been various rumors that the 10th Anniversary Yu-Gi-Oh! special will be a crossover between all three generations. It may not be true, but it's certainly would be interesting to see...

Not really surprised by Toriko getting a special, since the manga is doing quite well in Japan.

I don't like GX or 5D's, but that would definitely be interesting.

All I know about Toriko is something about its creator...

That would be interesting as well, but I think footage from ancient Egypt (real fake ancient Egypt) would be cool.

The One Piece news is what I'm most excited about.

I'm hoping this new Yu-Gi-Oh! special short features the original cast of characters. That would be awesome.

Since it's celebrating the anniversary of the original anime, it should. On the other hand, even though it's the least likely case, but since V Jump is involved, wouldn't it be a surprise if it was a Yu-Gi-Oh! R anime? But we all know that the best thing that could possibly happen for this would be them showing Yu-Gi-Oh! The Abridged Series. Even the Japanese who speak English wouldn't have any idea what they were talking about, but it would still be super special awesome for those of us IN AMERI--*shot*

Huh...didn't knew that. I guess that incident didn't hurt his career at all.

I think it's pretty likely that Yugi will be involved in the OVA in some manner, since they just call it a Yu-Gi-Oh! special (and not a Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's special, like last year's).

Actually it caused Jump to cancel his best known work, Seikimatsu Leader Den Takeshi, which was running in the magazine at the time. But they obviously didn't care about it too much to not let him start a new series in their magazine.

That is most likely true, but they could have easily branded last year's Dragon Ball special "DBZ" (unless they already knew about Kai and didn't want to use the "Z" anymore).

Huh - I hope they stream them online, like they did last year. That'd be pretty sweet. And classic Yu-Gi-Oh!... could I really say no to that?

THIS. Considering how much online streaming of subbed anime straight from Japan has grown in the last year, I can't see this not happening. I just hope it will be possible to watch it in a way other than the way it had to be done last time, which was very unusual. I'd like a YouTube-like video player that you can pause and fully load the video on for viewing without stutters.

I hope the new Yu-Gi-Oh! special deals more with the "Shadow Games" that the original was based off of than another "Duel Monsters" duel for the umpteenth time.

Remember, Yu-Gi-Oh! wasn't all Duel Monsters at one point.

Minus Miho hopefully. She was pretty annoying in the original series.

This special is celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters anime though, which has pretty much always featured Duel Monsters as the central plot point.

Dragonball is the franchise spanning name.

DBZ is still used for some merchandise, and the DBOX singles of course...

Yeah, but I'm just saying that since a "Dragon Ball" special turned out to take place in the time of the "Dragon Ball Z" anime, the "Yu-Gi-Oh!" special could turn out to take place in the time of an anime other than the original "Yu-Gi-Oh!" anime. The anime most think it's going to take place during was called "Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters" anyway. Still, you're right that it is less likely to take place during GX or 5D's, since those weren't based on the manga "Yu-Gi-Oh!".

Yep, that's right. The title was made up by Nakad over on Janime, and then it spread like wildfire over the internet. XD There was a scan from a BBS forum about it, and in the little paragraph about it, neither Yugi, Judai, nor Yusei were mentioned in it. So it remains to be seen what it's about.

Well, it might also be because Toriyama--who seemingly wrote up the plot--titled his notes Dragonball because that's what the entire Manga is called. Really, I wouldn't even call the Z portion a seperate entity like I would GT, but alas...

Yeah, this will probably take place during the original Yu-Gi-Oh! anime or Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters, I'm just not ruling out the possibilities of some elements of other Yu-Gi-Oh! series being included.

I hope it's about Yūgi. I'd like to know what he did after the series ended and if he and Kaiba ever fought again.

It's funny how the Alcatraz and Majin Boo arc battles between Yūgi and Kaiba and GOkū and Vegeta are so similar in the way they end (with Kaiba finally realizing he must let go of his anger and Vegeta recognizing he can't beat Gokū by chasing after him).

Me too. That would be interesting if it was him and Kaiba dueling again a few years later.

    Crossover?
