Perpetual energy is the only reason why CB was able to out-attrition the world army.

However, a war with machines full of perpetual energy is extremely dangerous. Think about it: No refueling=longer battles=lesser chances to end it via supply destruction. The only way to safely beat these things is smoking the earth and BAM!

Nah, Heero and Wing Zero and Zechs with Epyon would burst through a black hole and show CB what real Gundam Pilots are and Zero would take out the other things before finally Gurren Lagann would get some super epic upgrade to win the epic mother fing day!

Tieria: "What's that Heero kid doing?"
Lockon: "He's just letting them shoot at his Gundam...he's as bad as that Kira kid with his one note beam spam"
Tieria: "Well if they can't be bothered to use actual tactics, that just makes our job easier...TRANS-AM!"

Until Heero activates the self-destruct, destroying everything. Except Herro WHO CAN NEVER DIE NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO TO HIM.

Shoot him, drop him from a sky scrapper, activate a fusion bomb, he can't die! Whats up with that?
It's sad that in the end, so much evil is done all in the name of 'Everyone Else is Doing It'.

    No, No, No, No.
The Battle would go like this-
Gundams 00, Cherudim, Arios and Seravee go Trans-Am and rush at Wing Zero from all sides.
Wing Zero split its Twin Buster Rifle in two and spins around in a circle while firing nailing all four Gundam Meisters in the process.
Heero: The Zero System told me you would do that.

why argue, Master Asia would own all of them, case closed.

Agreed. Even Setsuna with 00 at full power can't defeat the power of people like Asia and Domon.

And yeah I would also prefer Heero > Setsuna for some reason.

In terms of sheer power: Turn A mecha < G mecha < Wing and X mecha < F91 and Victory Mecha < 00 mecha < CE mecha < Zeta, ZZ and CCA mecha < 0079 mecha.

So, Setsuna and friends would most likely beat Kira, Shin, Amuro, Kamille and Judau but would still get creamed by Seabook, Uso, Domon, Heero, Garrod and Loran.

People seem to forgot that 00 Raiser is just as hax as Freedom, but instead of firing multiple lasers that somehow, magically hit their targets.. he can just disappear/reappear and bathe you in particles, thus, seeing yourselves naked in space, and freaking you out.

tl;dr: Setsuna + Kira versus Everyone. Case closed.

What I'm still really curious about is who decided to split up the show into separate seasons. Mizushima? Various folks at Sunrise? Did the TV networks mess things up? Is it a mix of all these things?

Well, how it might have looked without the season break can be speculated about almost endlessly, but the series still turned out awesome as-is. I would hope that if it had been a straight 50 episodes, we would have seen the same basic ideas being put out there. I do tend to think that the break probably pushed them into building up to a proper climax for each season, whereas with a continuous run we possibly wouldn't have had it like that. In theory, it made the series more exciting--in theory. We'll never really know, of course.

Heero could win against season one Setsuna. Setsuna by the end, though, is probaby as strong as any Gundam pilot not from G Gundam.

I'll also note that predicting the future doesn't help if your response time can't keep up...Zero system would be most useful as a countermeasure against Veda or Sumeragi's tactical forecasting.

I don't think Mizushima did it, unless he likes making his co-writers cry.

Probably once they knew Code Geass was getting a second season, Sunrise decided to get a new time slot and at the same time, figure a new scheduling plan to shoot Gundam 00 in half to catch the Geass hype.

I think it probably came down to two things:

    1. The sheer trainwreck that was SEED Destiny. A 2 season show allows any obvious pitfalls on the production side to be addressed during the hiatus.

    2. The overseas market. SEED basically flopped in America and CN seemingly only finished it due to the clause in the contract. Dividing it into 2 25 episode seasons probably makes it more appealing to a US network then 'Here's this show you'll be lumbered with for a year straight and/or hit reruns pretty quickly'

Does anyone else thin that Season 2 had some executive tweaking from the Sunrise higher ups? I can't quite place it but I have a hunch there were more hands in kitchen the second season than there were in the first.

Nah. The extra hands are mostly due to Ribbons and his minions, and I'm pretty confident that he was always supposed to rebel in favor of his own plans.

Which uh...didn't work out for Geass anyway thanks to Adult Swim going "Hurr we're going straight into season 2" and then flop in the middle for months.

That might be because of the dub not being ready, though.

I was pointing AS ignoring the fact its 2 seasons, yet they made it into another 50-week run anyway.

As much as I'm on and off about Ocean Dub, I don't remember them ever delaying an anime dub because of poor scheduling.

Bandai's using the DVD masters for the dub and I imagine they needed to wait for the Japanese releases to be done with, for whatever logistical reason, before the rest of the episodes could be sent to the dubbing studio. How can AS handle this is another matter.

As for the whole idea of splitting a show into two, I suppose another issue would be the fact it should be better for marketing purposes, since you can sell more toys, merchandise and so on during the break while the franchise is still riding its own popularity wave and the audience is still willing to wait months for the next season.

I'm not against that idea, mind you, whatever its motivations are, although I can certainly say that if you're going to split something into two, at least keep the show on essentially the same slot and aimed at the same audience, which is what they fortunately did with Gundam 00.

I wonder, is it possible the break might have helped with animation? Lord knows SEED Destiny overdosed on reused animation, whereas I had trouble finding it in 00. Only one I can recall off the top of my head is Sevaree's rifles getting slashed, they reused that a few times.
