As many of you know, animnewsnetwork.com has their Hey, Answerman! column. The column usually asks some good questions but I think there is one in particular that we can all do here.
He replied with...the other day my friend told me that he didn't like fullmetal alchemist! i was shocked! but then i realized, I dont like Dragon Ball Z. so I guess we all have confessions to make! what are some of your secrets??

So I figured us being the level-headed anime individuals we are, we all have our own confessions of darkness to add. So what are some of yours?
For me there is:
-I like Zero no Tsukaima and I was sad when Geneon went down so now it may not come out here
-Digimon, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, Beyblade, Medabots, etc....All of them pale in comparison to the epic awesomness that is Onmyo Taisenki
-Though I love Christopher Sabat's Zoro, I do miss Marc's Zolo and I believed him to just have bad writing
-I hated (big gulp here) Stand Alone Complex please don't kill me
-Ed annoyed me as well in Cowboy Bebop
-I saw the entirety of Kodomo no Jikan and I liked it
-The Speed Racer movie kicked major a** and I don't know why so many people hate it
-Avatar is better than most anime out there.
And last
-I hate SD Gundam Force
-Kamen Rider Decade-"I'm just a Kamen Rider passing through. Better remember me!"
-"Bang"

wow, il also admit it, i originaly also read Tenjou Tenge for the fan service, but eventualy it became about the fights (not the plot though, the plot's confusing as hell).Originally Posted by answerman
1) i think Most anime isnt very good.
2) i think Cardcaptor Sakura is one of the greatest manga ever created.
3) I dont see the appeal of Ouran Highschool Host Club (it bores me).
4) I absolutely hate Escaflowne, i was too bored to continue watching after 4 episodes.
5) i think GTO pales in comparison to Shonan Junai Gumi (GTO's the sequal).
6) i think Armored Trooper Votoms is the greatest mecha anime ever created, it makes every gundam series ever look like garbage in comparison.
7) i think most characters in Gundam 00 are not very interesting.
8) i enjoyed SD Gundam Force
"I will turn your name into a synonym for weakness"
"Politics always takes vengeance on those that belittle it"
"Perfection is nothing but a dead end"
1) I agree with the above7) i think most characters in Gundam 00 are not very interesting.
2) I like fanservice though this should be no surprise![]()
3) If its aired on Adult Swim then I probably liked it.
4) Ghost in a Shell is overrated
5) I love Fate/ stay night and Elfen Lied
6) The original gundam is still the best
7) Neon Genesis Evangelion is THE MOST OVERRATED anime of all time. Its the Final Fantasy 7 of anime![]()
Tobi: "Tobi's a good boy."
Zero: "Be crushed to dust you relic."
Magneto: "The brave are always the first to die."
- I think the first 13 episodes of Armored Trooper Votoms are total crap. The animation was terrible, the fight scenes were just reused explosions and Coccona had to be one of the most annoying characters in anime. Once the show gets to Kummen Jungle Wars it becomes amazing, but that first arc is awful.
- I don't like Mamoru Oshii. The only work of his I enjoyed was Patlabor
- I rewatched 08th Ms Team recently and it wasn't that great. 0080 was better.
Here are some of my confessions
1. I don't Like Neon Genesis Eva, the characters have way too much emotional baggage, should be locked up in a mental institution, and should be smacked upside the head.
2. I only liked Naruto up the Chunin exams, during the Tsunade Arc, I got bored with it.
3. I think that FMA should have another Anime adaptation for one that follows the manga.
4. I was once a fan of Inuyasha, but after the few times they let Naraku slip from them and went after Kohaku to make sure he didn't kill Rin was when I got fed up with it. They were so close.

1. I can't watch Ghost in the Shell. Any of it. I don't know what it is about the series, but I just can't enjoy it, it puts me to sleep. It's one of the only.
2. I don't enjoy Samurai Champloo. Not even for the fighting.
3. The first few episodes of Escaflowne bored me as well, though I may return to watch the series sometime soon.
4. DragonBall Z is... one of my favorite animes of all time, regardless of my standards. I know how bad the show really is, not even deep down, but I can't get passed the love I have for it.
5. Cowboy Bebop? I love Ed. I think she's a great, quirky character who offered a much needed refrain from the seriousness of the rest of the crew. I believe anyone who finds Ed's character to be annoying to be far too cynical for their own good and don't appreciate enough things in life.
6. I think Evangelion is a very good anime, but a little overrated.
7. I seriously don't like the second season of Full Metal Alchemist. I also am bitter and detest the Answerman for thinking the second season is better. The first season was far more entertaining for me. I want a second season based on the Manga.
8. I enjoy Sailor Moon when it's on, but always Card Captor Sakura.
9. I despise most Yaoi. Mostly because the characters are almost always these skinny, androgynous boy toys getting 'dominated' by other slightly less skinny, slightly less androgynous men. Uke and Seme need to go straight to hell, bring on some bears or some jocks, something, yaoi needs more freaking meat to it...
10. I want so badly to watch and keep up with One Piece, but it's just SO LONG.
11. I like Digimon Season 3 more than any other Digimon Season. Period. End of story. We're done here. Double period.
12. I think the focus on moe fan service and the pandering to the lolita/shota-complex fans is making the anime community worse.

I can already tell this thread is going to be "hate popular show" time (like we need another one of THOSE...), so I'm going to go for some more positive examples.
-I enjoyed Ai Yori Aoshi and its sequel, Enishi. The characters and stories were simple but charming and Tina, probably my favorite character in the series, even got some character development throughout.
-I may have initially bought Divergence Eve for, ahem, other reasons, but as I watched vol. 1, I realized, "Hey, there's a halfway decent story in here!"
-Galaxy Angel Rune has made me laugh many times, so it's not the total trainwreck some original GA fans make it out to be.
-I..... liked Jungle De Ikou.![]()
"You have the right to remain silent. But then again, you have the right to spill your guts and really blow it for yourself!"- Goofy, after arresting Pete and Peg
1) I don't like Dragonball Z,I've tried to watch it,and I just can't get into it...
2) I like the Naruto anime more than the manga (though to be fair,I haven't seen too much of the "filler")....I think it's that the dub has alot of VAs I like...
3) My favorite Studio Ghibli films weren't directed by Miyazaki (Whisper of the Heart and The Cat Returns)
4) I liked both the TV series and movie endings for Fullmetal Alchemist
5) Maison Ikkoku is the best manga series I've ever read (though Fruits Basket comes close)
6) I don't like yaoi or yuri at all....I think that it has more to do with the fandom than anything else (i.e. fanboys and girls pairing up characters who aren't gay in canon)...
"Yeah, well,I've got a dream too.But it's about singing and dancing and making people happy. That's the kind of dream that gets better the more people you share it with. And well,I've found a whole bunch of friends who have the same dream. And it kind of makes us like a family." -Kermit the Frog (The Muppet Movie)
Okay I guess I can go into a positive gear for this one.
1. I like some 4kids dubs. Mostly Shaman King, Ultimate Muscle, and Kirby. I would add Dinosaur King, but I haven't watched an episode yet.
2. I was more opened to the voice changes in Pokemon anime compared to most fans.
3. I have no problem with people cosplaying at convention, it only those who wear the costume during the day in the middle of a mall that creep me out. That also goes for anyone I see wearing a Naruto Headband.
4. I like the DBZ dub for what it is worth, Hell I enjoyed the 13 Dragon Ball when it was voiced by the Ocean Group.
5. I have Tenchi Muyo GXP! in my anime Collection.

Agreed. I've never read the manga though, so I don't know what you mean by the manga version for season two (storywise I mean, not concept).
I've only seen 3 episodes of NGE (I did like it, but I never watched it again since probably.....2003/4... I plan on watching it soon though).
Inuyasha couldn't really ever hold my attention. I was usually bored with it.
I'm extremely close minded when it comes to mecha/sci fi anime. I've seen quite a few and the only mecha that I like is Big O, NGE (from what I've seen so far of NGE).
I respect Akira, but I definitely think that Blue Dragon is pretty boring....

4/13: FREEDOM!
About halfway through the series, the Fullmetal Alchemist anime creates a brand new storyline only found in the anime. Up until that point, most episodes were based on the manga. In other words, both versions started the same, but then branched off from each other and ended differently (although the manga hasn't actually ended yet).
"If some have learned something that is fine. If others have learned nothing that is fine as well, more importantly...it was fun, right?"
- Master Norb
Heck, yeah. I actually liked the dub for this (which I think counts as a confession)
also
-I like the english Anna from Shaman King than her seiyu voice. (You know what, I think I just like Rika from Digimon Tamers' VA)
-Kamen Rider Decade-"I'm just a Kamen Rider passing through. Better remember me!"
-"Bang"

Another couple of them...
1. I believe that the localization of Pokemon, as far as the games go, is fine. I think that giving them English-centric names in the American versions, as long as it's official, is a-ok considering it's what they always intended to do from the start.
2. I still watch the original Giant Robo dub for s**ts and giggles.
3. I'm straight for Ryoko from Tenchi Muyo!

Well it's either that or Naruto as both hold quite an overrated amount of fans who claim it's better than anything else in existence.7) Neon Genesis Evangelion is THE MOST OVERRATED anime of all time. Its the Final Fantasy 7 of anime
But really, I agree with your opinions on NGE. What kind of sick mind comes up with this demented garbage? Okay, I'm all for an anime that tackles psychological issues like the ones NGE tackles but considering HOW NGE pulls it off, it makes me think there should be a damn limit as to how far you're allowed to take that stuff in fiction.
And don't get me started on End of Evangelion. Please, don't get me started on that. (My friend warned me about watching that but I just HAD to not listen and read spoilers on the plot and watch clips of it)

1: Bobobo is one of my favorite animated comedies and the dub is great.
2: I think Digimon's dubs have better voice-acting than the originals. Digimon Tamers is also one of my favorite anime, Digimon Savers is one of my most disliked.
3: To me, the Full Metal Alchemist anime is better than the manga in some aspects and I liked its ending.
4: I grow weary of pratically every villain in anime being some sort of androgynus she-man, mostly because they're boring, cliche, and sometimes rather annoying.
This is what I consider my biggest Anime confession. I'm not fond of Edward from Cowboy Bebop. I consider her to be the most annoying character in the series.
1. To me Akira was very well made, but I don't care for the story.
2. I once bought Ninja Scroll, hated it, and eventually got rid of it by selling it to a Suncoast store. It seemed to me it cared more about cascades of blood and naked flesh than telling a decent story. Afro Samurai seems to inherit that trait, and it isn't better off for it. On the other hand, Samurai X: Trust and Betrayal are the best samurai anime ever made.
3. I really like Saki from Fruits Basket, always did right from the very first episode. "One more word and I'm going to *censored* you with electric shocks." The episodes that focus on her are my favorites. On the surface she's weird, but underneath that she's very contemplative and insightful.
4. He's pretty far off from being my favorite Gundam pilot but I think Kira Yamato from Gundam Seed & Seed Destiny is terribly underrated, and is a 21st century Amuro of sorts. Hate the writer, not the character. Athrun is better, though.
5. One time I had the opportunity to choose a free DVD for myself, and I chose the first volume of freaking Galaxy Angel instead of Big O or Crest of the Stars, believing it was a good show. I have since grown wiser, with the complete Big O sitting on my shelf.
6. I don't find Evangelion interesting compared to what's been made since, and I really dislike the legion of emotionally weak and frustrated protagonists that its popularity created.
7. I used to see anime movies on the Sci-Fi channel back in the 90's, but besides the Lodoss War OVA and Project A-Ko I can't remember what any of them were.
8. Somehow, I still like Robotech's take on Macross. If there hadn't been stupid syndication rules and the other two-thirds of Robotech didn't exist, I'd probably call it one of the better dub adaptations. Robotech Minmei is annoying, but I generally liked the personalities and the Americanized names given to the characters. And the essence of what Macross was about made it through, which is pretty shocking to me considering that this was a product of the 1980's. In that sense, maybe it was ahead of its time.
9. I don't care for much of anything Go Nagai has made, but I like Giant Robo and GaoGaiGar and G Gundam. I don't really have a good explanation for this.
10. Some would say that anime isn't as good as it used to be, but I think that on balance its at least as interesting as it was in the 1990's. Crap got made back then too, its just that now we're more aware of all of it thanks to the internet.
I would suggest that it's not the medium, but the quality of perception and expression, that determines the significance of art. But what would a cartoonist know? -Bill Watterson
Although I don't really keep secrets about what I love or hate about anime, but I'll try my best to think of somethings I haven't yet revealed to the world.
1) I'm very picky about the animes I watch.
2) I don't mind ultra violent and over the top anime. I guess its because I watched so much of it back in the day.
3) I can still recite the Team Rocket motto and secretly wish for Team Rocket game for DS.
4) I don't bother watching most mainstream animes no matter how "awesome" people tell me it is.
5) G Gundam is still my favorite Gundam series. Yes, it even out shines Gundam Wing.
7) I want to like One Piece, Naruto, and Bleach but the series goes on forever through the end of time and the fillers are unbearable to watch. I simply don't have the patience to watch them.
8) Full Metal Alchemist bored me to tears. To much emotional drama. To much drama period. "For god sake Ed stop crying about mom, she died it sucks, your brother walking tin can, you're missing an arm. Boo-hoo, dry your tears and drop you balls for the love of god."
9) I still have a place in my heart for DBZ no matter how bad it is. But my god, its so easy to make fun of now and these days.
10) I love, Love, LOVE Tenchi Muyo! Universe, and Tokyo. but hated the later Tenchi Myuo Royoki! series. You know, the one where he gets engaged and Washu and Sasami are goddesses apparently.
11) I use to read Fushigi Yugi. I think thats a confession on its own.
12) Air Gear was going to be my next favorite anime series but the fan service threw me off. I don't mind a few nude shots every now and then, hell they need the ratings, but when your show caters to ever fan on the spectrum, from horny little boys to rabid yaoi fan girls your just trying too hard.
