wow, i dint think this was so important.
coincidentaly i was watching Bebop the moment i found this thread.
I know I am a couple of days late, but April 3, 2008 marks a decade since the first showing of the best anime of all time (in my opinion, calm down Alucard), the one and only Cowboy Bebop. Cowboy Bebop is best known anime of Shinichirō Watanabe. It has inspired later anime, including Watanabe's own Samurai Champloo. Champloo is the closest thing to a successor to Bebop. But nothing has touched it, and mostly because of its similarities, Samurai Champloo is my second favorite anime. While many people disagree with Cowboy Bebop being the best anime ever, saying Neon Genesis Evangelion (definitely in my top 5), or something like that is better, many also agree, and I challenge you to find a human on Earth whose "top 50 anime" list does not include it. And as much as Adult Swim seems to hate anime, they have it on a lot, in fact it is on right now, so even though I have the entire series, I am off to watch it. I'd like to thank Cowboy Bebop for its legacy, and to wish it a very happy birthday, and although in the next couple of years Shinichirō Watanabe should direct another series, nothing will ever touch Cowboy Bebop, so I am fine with it now, and as I have to watch some right now, see you space cowboys...

Bebop Forever! :anime:
Cowboy Bebop wins the "vs. NGE" argument because Cowboy Bebop's ending makes sense.
It also wins over everything because of Mushroom Samba and Speak Like A Child. And anything involving Ed at all.

THIS WEEK: The revolution has begun! In today's NEXT-GEN PREVIEW SPECIAL, be the first to see ten brand-new titles from the video game consoles of the near future!
So the DVDs are all out in a boxset in a finally affordable price. Good thing I decided to wait to buy them...
Amazing show, though. Definitely a classic.
My favorite episode of BeBop is still the one with the nutty anti-capitalist terrorist who keeps getting denied the chance to rant about why he goes to so much trouble to try to blow up things. His nasty schemes end up taking a backseat to Spike's rivalry with that wannabe Cowboy, which inspires more than a few laughs.
Its amazing how many priceless moments are in that series, really.
I would suggest that it's not the medium, but the quality of perception and expression, that determines the significance of art. But what would a cartoonist know? -Bill Watterson
Wait, the show first aired on April 3rd? That's my birthbay, sweet!

CB rocks!!
Oh yeah, that old thing...
Cowboy Bebop is fine. I like the soundtrack and some of the fight scenes are decent. When it comes to the whole space pirate thing I guess I prefer Captain Harlock, but Cowboy Bebop is still enioyable.
Its a hell of a lot better than Evangelion though...
Nothing better can be said but "bang".
Exit... Stage Van
My goodness, it takes such little time for a thread to devolve into a pigheaded Evangelion bash fest.
I enjoy Bebop, but I hate its fans with a passion, and only 12 posts in I'm already seeing perfect examples of the very reason I so despise the Bebop fanbase.
Meh, one post does not an EVA bash make. I agree about kneejerk praise, but CB does deserve most of love it gets whether one considers it "best anime ever" or not.

Bebop is one of my favorite shows, so it's good to see that it hit its tenth anniversary.
Actually, two out of twelve posts. Which is nearly 20% of the posts. In a thread that has NOTHING to do with Evangelion. And no other series besides Eva and Bebop mentioned. That's the starts of a bashfest.
I'm not saying CB isn't a great series or is undeserving of a significant amount of praise, but most CB fans feel this constant need to either bash other popular shows like Evangelion, or make disgustingly hyperbolic statements like "don't even bother watching any anime other than Cowboy Bebop because Cowboy Bebop is the best you'll find" (and, yes, I've seen that exact statement by many different people in many different places). That's the direction I see this thread headed in already, and I felt compelled to call it. *shrugs*
Fair enough, I can agree with that.
Personally I wouldn't say BeBop is my #1, though it'd be in my top 10 without question. It has that rare gift of being perpetually rewatchable, if only because of the music and the handful of comedy episodes that get me every time. It also somehow became that anime that you can show to anyone even if they wouldn't be otherwise interested in seeing an anime out of the blue; I guess Adult Swim is to thank for that.

I just said it because FUNIOP said "While many people disagree with Cowboy Bebop being the best anime ever, saying Neon Genesis Evangelion" And I felt I needed to show I wasn't just a stubborn Eva fan.
Sorry for offending anyone
20 percent?? I'm sorry, but that's just funny.
I love Cowboy Bebop and so does everyone I know, so if you hate Cowboy Bebop fans you must be very lonely.
