So The Third gets interesting in The Fifth, eh?

Surprisingly, yeah. I'm not sure that I'd say you can just jump in to volume 5 without getting the earlier ones, because vol. 5 does build on events and characterization in the earlier volumes, and all of that's kind of important. It's kind of like how the season 3 premiere of Avatar may be a fine episode on its own, but it relies very heavily on past continuity for the big moments to become Big Moments.
