I don't care for this guy's verious backdrops, but he's doing all of them a diservice.

So Buddhism and Shintoism are "primitive" religions? One geek killing someone represents all geeks? Otakus and furries are in the same league as murderers? And sexual deviancy is even worse than murder?
I'm a writer at a new Boston blog: http://thelongfellowbridge.com/author/rbaron/

This site 100% a joke. You only need to scroll down a bit to his other entries, and it's completely a joke site.
All that and not one angry rant about Death Note? I am duly disappointed.
I am amused by his claims of "research" considering he's telling his readers every anime is super violent and sexually depraved. Then there's this:
An "unauthorized annual gathering," as if it were something deeply improper or perhaps even illegal. Eh, okay.It seems the anime is based on a Japanese-only murder simulation computer game written by doujin (amateurs) group 07th Expansion and sold to ravenous otakus (obsessed anime geeks and loners) at Comiket (Comic Market, an unauthorized annual gathering of otaku, obsessed anime fans, and amateur artists in Tokyo, Japan).
I'd say more, but its just too easy to skewer all this. Blame the media that inspired the murder, not the person who was sick enough to do it to begin with...nothing new there, nothing that hasn't been answered before.
I would suggest that it's not the medium, but the quality of perception and expression, that determines the significance of art. But what would a cartoonist know? -Bill Watterson
This is the best thing since the "ban anime" petition. I think it's firmly established by now that anime destroys your ability to perceive irony.
Anyone read the comments?
As you have already read above, not all otakus are crazy and in fact we are all a lot saner than what most people can be.
I'm %90 that "Blogs4brownback" is a parody. I mean, just read http://blogs4brownback.wordpress.com...els-and-atoms/
Then again who the hell can even tell with these people![]()

I thought it was pretty much understood that anime turns kids into geeks. What's everybody getting all up in arms about?
Meh, its hard for me to tell. The anime post seemed rather serious and not unlike what I've heard here and there before, but this is looking pretty random now. Eh, I've decided to not care.

This has to be a joke. Especially after reading "Angels and Atoms".
How else could he justify slamming Japanese religions like that?

At least 15 percent of the moviegoing audience experiences headache and eyestrain during 3-D movies. I'm one of them. And no, I don't need corrective eyewear.
Seemed rather obvious, to me.
Generally speaking, if someone's behavior online is both ignorant and malicious to that degree, you should consider their motives suspect. That goes even more so if they're part of some extensive website dedicated to being ignorant and malicious.
I've usually seen it stated more like this: "Without the use of a winking smiley or other blatant display of humor, it is impossible to make a parody of fundamentalism that someone won't mistake for the real thing." That puts a somewhat different slant on the idea, with at least a little more weight on the reader.
One thing that should have tipped people off is just how thoroughly researched the blog entry actually is. The author knows a little too much about the subject, while still making all the "right" mistakes to provoke readers. I also see none of the more "innocent" mistakes I'd expect of a genuine, misguided, attack on something like anime.
