Anime on Nick? It almost happened!

I was doing some searching online, when I came across this interesting little piece courtesy of the Anime News Network This is Media Blasters rep John Sirabella speaking on what almost happened.
When asked about anime on television, John told a tale of what "may have been" with Magic Knight Rayearth: Back during the days before Toonami on Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon began seeking anime titles for a block similar to Toonami, but with a more kid-friendly leaning. Nickelodeon wanted to acquire Magic Knight Rayearth for this block, but wasn't happy with the dramatic nature of the series. Nick asked MB to make the show more comedic, and MB refused. "Everyone wants the next Digimon," John said. As Toonami gained a foothold on Cartoon Network, Nick abandoned its plans for an anime block and instead went to its own studios to produce animated titles more in-line with its audiences' expectations.

Yup. It's a signature. Go away if you're expecting something interesting here.

geese... too bad it didnt happen... I wish nick would have something like toonami... but when you think about it the networks are VERY alike... they both have an ADULT time... EX adult swim, nick at night? well I think tehy should both have and anime block... then while they play DBZ on CN they'll play something better on Nick... but I DOUBT nick would play anything besides kiddie anime... but it was just a thought...

Anime did play on Nick...in the 1980s. Belle and Sebastion and Myserious Cities of Gold (half-anime) aired on Nick.

I'm kind of glad it didn't happen... Who knows? It could have prevented SpongeBob from being! Besides, I think anime is taking over the world, no offense meant to everyone else on this board. I'm just not a fan.
