I definately see where you're coming from. Even though I do enjoy watching GX, and I do feel like it has been getting better since the end of the first season, it is no where near as good as the DM series. We don't know too much about any of the characters' backstories and not too many of them do much of anything, especially Alexis/Asuka. Compared to DM, GX does feel like it is more about the card game than telling a story, like the original did.
In terms of the seasons, I actually thought that they have been getting better since the start of season two. The first season had just too darn much focus on Jaden and hardly anyone else did anything. Plus, those were those filler episodes, like the two that you mentioned, that were pretty bad. Barely anyone else got a chance to duel during that season. I thought that they fixed that a bit in the second season by giving other characters some screen time and a few more duels than what most of them got in the first season. Besides that, I enjoyed Satrouious much more than any of the shadow riders. I only follow the dub of GX and from what I've seen of season three so far, it seems pretty interesting. But so far, season two has been my favorite season.
Whew... That is
great news. From what I heard from some people who do watch the Japanese version, they said that it would feel so incomplete without a forth season. Luckily for me, they didn't give any spoilers away. But I'm definately happy with that.
Regarding the dub names, I think that Konami wanted Viz to keep the names like that so that people who watch the series wouldn't be confused with the different names. But that's just my guess.
The more I hear about this
manga version, the more that I want to read it. Jaden/Judai not only getting a flashback about his past, but getting good character developement for the other characters at the same time. And he doesn't even have that much screen time like he does in the series. Sounds like a fun read to me. Too bad that it doesn't come out until November, but hopefully it will be worth the wait.
