CLAMP Manga "Kobato" to be Serialized in Newtype USA

    Like This Thread!
ANN posted this news on Friday, I thought it worth mentioning here:

Newtype USA has announced that, beginning with the June 2007 issue, it will serialize the new Clamp manga "Kobato" which is currently running in the Japanese edition of Newtype. Kobato includes a number of crossover characters from other Clamp series, including Chobits and xxxHolic, as well as original characters, and is about a young girl with a mysterious bottle that must be filled by helping others with their problems.
Good news from my point of view, as I like what CLAMP's done lately. So far serialized manga hasn't been a big draw for me to read NT USA, but this one might change that.
I would suggest that it's not the medium, but the quality of perception and expression, that determines the significance of art. But what would a cartoonist know? -Bill Watterson

Is EVERYTHING CLAMP makes from now on a crossover?

Legal Drug is not. From what I understand though Kaboto has some cameos, but its not a crossover in the way Tsubasa and xxxHolic are.

Does it even "Cross over" par-cé? I'm pritty sure it's "Alternitive Universe" standpoint (the Chi sisters being human and what not).

From what I remember, these are the CLAMP titles that crossover with each other(not counting Kobato, which I haven't read)....

Tsubasa/XXXholic....with each other, and have cameos/appearances by alternates universe versions of CLAMP characters (the two main characters of Tsubasa are an AU Sakura and Shaoran, who originally appeared in Card Captor Sakura)...

Legal Drug/Suki....Legal Drug has a brief appearance by the two main characters of Suki....

Chobits/Angelic Layer(manga only)....apparently,both series take place in the same universe, with the events of AL taking place before that of Chobits...one of the Angelic Layer characters was the older sister of a character in Chobits, and another AL character was the husband to a character in Chobits....and also, research from Angelic Layer dolls was used to create the persocoms in Chobits...

Tokyo Babylon/X....with the events of TB happening first...The main characters,Subaru and Seishiro are characters in X,plus Hokuto also appears,as well as older versions of the CLAMP Campus Detectives...

Additionally, The Man of Many Faces, Clamp School Detectives and Clamp School Defenders: Duklyon all crossover as well, plus The Man of Many Faces references RGVeda and the Clamp School Paranormal Investigator novel series also ties into the Clamp School setting too.

From a marketing point of view, CLAMP is pretty smart. As I continue to read Tsubasa and xxxHOLiC, I've started reading their other manga titles because now I'm curious to know how character "X" or "Y" was in whatever manga they came from.

DARN YOU CLAMP! *shakes empty wallet!*
