Let me guess... on weekends we'll get three hours worth of Pokemon, two and a half hours of Yu-gi-oh, and an episode of Zeta.
Shoot me.
As I reported earlier, Kids'WB! plans to add Yu-Gi-Oh to their schedule next year, but it seem slike it'll bow in the fall now! So where the heck are all their shows gonna go? Abyways, here's info on it:
Kids' WB! and 4Kids Entertainment announced on Monday that Japan's anime series, YU-GI-OH!, will be part of its Saturday morning lineup this fall.
The announcement was made by Donna Friedman, executive vice-president, Kids' WB!, and Al Kahn, chairman and CEO of 4Kids Entertainment.
"We are thrilled to be working once again with the creative team that brought Pokémon to Kids' WB!," Friedman said. "4Kids Entertainment and the YU-GI-OH! consortium in Japan are bringing us - and kids in the U.S. - the next hit animé-adventure series. YU-GI-OH! will make a great addition to our top-rated fall line-up."
Here's how Kids' WB! describes the show:
"YU-GI-OH!, based on the comic book series, follows the adventures of Yugi, a smaller than average high school student - and an easy target for bullies. When his grandfather, a local game shop manager, gives him an ancient Egyptian riddle called the Millennium Puzzle, and Yugi pieces it together, he unexpectedly becomes the powerful Game King, an alter-ego. When Yugi gets into sticky situations, the Game King takes over and protects Yugi and his friends. The game is on -- as Yugi plays games to defeat his monster rivals."
The network has not announced a time period for the show.

You read it... you can't un-read it!
Nah, they have to bludgeon the craptacular Max Steel to death first.
Yu-Gi-Oh! might not be too bad...in the original. Five will get you two that the dub will be misedited with a horrible voice cast and soundtrack. The odds are that bad.

I don't know why people (and anime fans) are getting so psyched about this Yugi-Oh thing. It isn't anything special. Sure, it's popular in Japan, but so is wearing long socks, and that's not so big here in North America.
I showed Yugi-Oh (the original) to a bunch of kids, and they weren't too amused. Even I, who seem to be able to 'get into' faddy kid shows much of the time, can't get much entertainment out of this show. The Pokemon copycat era is over. I'm telling you. Underline this quote three times. Pokemon will stay popular because of familiarity, but copycat shows like Yugi-Oh went out of favour 9 months ago. If Yugi-Oh ever gets high ratings, it will only be because it's riding the KWB ratings wave.
I guarantee it. I'll eat my Batman comics if Yugi-Oh ever becomes the phenomenon Pokemon was.
to quote the simpsons: will anybody think of the children? won't somebody please think of the children?
they're thinking about the wrong people. these shows just plain old suck.
I got the episodes of Yugi Oh that aired March 20th, March 27th, April 3rd and April 10th this year. Nothing great, the battle was far too long, Yugi boring. The only things of interest were a trio of cheerleaders (one who appeared to be a fat boy) beating up on Yugi's yaoi? pal who was dressed up like a dog, and the commercials inbetween. McDonalds no Happy Setto and Pepsi taste tests, etc.
I really don't think the Yugi franchise does better than Pokemon in Japan, aside from trading cards. The theatrical releases should be an indication of that.
Well...Rocky and I usually see eye-to-eye on anime, and if she gives it a lukewarm review, chances are I'm going to be even nastier come reviewin' time. Cheerleaders beating up on a fruity boy in a dog suit? [reaches for a whiskey bottle] Okay...now I'm ready to turn on KWB.
I like human-driven anime. I would be happy as a pig in flop if they nixed the cute beasties for just one ep of Pokemon and did a whole 22 min. of Jessy. She's completely cracked and emotionally/psychologically complex. I'm waiting for her to get tossed in a padded cell and fed antipsychotic medication until it comes out her nose, quite frankly.
I also enjoy Sailor Moon, even if some of the scripts are on the cookie-cuttter side, for the villians and the emotional story arc finales (is it perverse of me to enjoy watching SM cry?)
Same with Tenchi Muyo. Anything in which I get to leer at pretty girls, regardless of plot, gets at least two stars out of five with me. Sexy sultry Ryoko's my favorite...but I get a kick out of Mihoshi. She reminds me of Chrissy in Three's Company, for some odd reason. Mihoshi's so ditzy she heard people complaining about HMO's on talk radio and asked why they were being so mean picking on gay people.![]()
I'm on tenterhooks waiting to see the new eps of Cardcaptors. Hopefully we'll learn what Ms. Mackenzie's angle is...and more of the Li/Sakura/Mei-Lin love triangle. Not to mention Yui.
I can't get into Dragonball Z, though. The characters are too flat and all they do is prance about, flex their muscles, and constantly train in alternate universes. I don't know if it's bad writing or bad dubbing, but it left me shaking my head after a couple of viewings. My brother, however, enjoys it with juvenile glee.![]()

No, Dragon Ball Z is basically for people who like watching supermen beat the hell out of each other. That's what it is. Most people know whether it's for them or not.Originally posted by DR. BELCH

BTW, I finally caught some ads for the new Cardcaptors episodes starting next week. Ye Gawds! Looking at the promos, I'm wondering if they are going to skip 10 episodes or so YET AGAIN. Because a lot of people are going to be mighty confused, as A LOT happens between the time Mei-Lin leaves and the footage the promos are showing. Oh well. I'll fill you in if KWB pulls another one of their stupid stunts.
Eriol's in those previews, right?
Anyway, the eps of Yugi-Oh I have on video probably won't air for quite some time. I'd personally edit them down just because dragging a match over four+ episodes is just bad bad bad. It looks as if there's piles of characters but maybe TV Tokyo did the same thing that they did for Pokemon's Orange League theme and showed piles of one-shot rivals.

Yes, Eriol is there. So much for the mystery of Kero. And Yukito/Julian. And Mizuki/Mackenzie...
Yugi-Oh is bad. Transformers Car Robots sucks. Yep, they just pick 'em outta the bottom of the barrel. And the ones that could have been at least okay are edited to hell.
