Anime Remake Fever- Who will be Next?

    Like This Thread!
Love or hate it, looks like the anime remakes are here to stay.

From Gainax remaking Go Nagai's work with Re: Cutie Honey...

... to them also making a GunBuster sequel, and now an Evangelion comeback...

... to AIC returning to the Tenchi Muyo OVA continuity, a new Pretty Sammy series, and an Aaa Megamisama revival now on its second season...

... And heck, we are even having an anime remake of an American job with Powerpuff Girls Z...

... Even a live action revival of Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon was attempted!

And before that, we had the Mazinkaiser OVAs, the new Fist of the North Star, and Astro Boy 2003!

Which will be the next left-for-dead property to be revived by this recent tendence? The rumored El Hazard return? More InuYasha anime? Old favorite Urusei Yatsura? Love Hina's final chapter? Slayers? Ranma? Photon? Saber Marionette? Fushigi no Umi no Nadia? La Blue Girl?

Of course, we only can guess at this point, but if you had to bet on one filed down anime to come back to life, which one do you think the Japanese will choose first?

Yeah, sure. I hate incomplete endings.

I also wouldn't mind see a TV series for Akira and an updated series for Maison Ikkoku. That and adapt the Enishi arc of Kenshin.

I wouldn't mind seeing a remake of Mobile Suit Gundam. It'd be awesome to see MSG remade with better animation.

Maybe a series based on The Origin would work.

I third Inuyasha and Ranma. SEED Destiny could desperately use a total remake, but with the Special Editions already making changes, that'll probably be all we get.

I could go for Studio Pierrot just starting Naruto over from the beginning.

The most likely one IMO is a new Fullmetal Alchemist series that follows the manga faithfully, once the manga is finished.

It's insanely popular worldwide (it's practically a cultural phenomenon in Japan), and there is so much content the anime didn't cover that a new series would not only be way awesome, it would be extremely profitable.

I thought that's what SEED was for.

Yes, that's another one that would work out quite well.

Here's another show I would like to see: Lupin the 3rd. Not a remake but a new show with new stories. Monkey Punch could direct and write some episodes. I'm surprised TMS(*looks around*) hasn't done one already.

Maybe not a re-make, but a sequel to Wolf's Rain wouldn't be half bad...

Maybe there will be a remake of DB/DBZ in either a new anime or a live action adaption like Sailor Moon. It could possibly work if done right.

Hey now, SEED may have its faults, but it definately has better animation than MSG. Hell, the first 5 minutes has better animation than anything from MSG. Pretty much the only series out in the US that have worse animation than MSG are Lupin, Gigantor, the original Astro Boy, and any random Hanna-Barbara/Filmation cartoon. :P

Tokimeki Tonight should really get a remake. This time, with a less rushed-last-minute ending.

How about a new or remake of Leiji Matsumoto's Space Battleship Yamato?

We got a Galaxy Express remake/reimagining in The Galaxy Railways a couple years ago.

I wouldn't mind seeing a expanded series version of the Do You Remember Love movie storyline using Macross Zero's budget...

    Let's see...

    - I thirded a new Ranma 1/2 show that's more accurate to the manga.

    - A new Flame of Recca series that's accurate to the manga.

-A remake of Space Runaway Ideon. Of course some of the EVA fanboys will think Ideon is a ripoff off Evangelion.

    - A Gundam F91 TV series. Tomino would be the director and he would be able to go with his original vision of this being a TV show and not a rushed-through movie. Seabrook Arno lives on!

    - Staying on Gundam, a reimagined ZZ Gundam. The original show was so uneven in tone(kiddy in the first half, dark in the second half), and a potentially great character in Judau Ashta was wasted. Tomino could direct or they could get someone else.

    - I wouldn't mind a remake of Urusei Yatsura or Maison Ikkoku. I would want Kyoto Animation, Toei Animation or Sunrise to do the animation(same with Ranma).

I really don't like digital animation, but if they got an Gundam: the Orgin Animé made, I would be in love. Espicially if the MS where not done in CG.

A Dragonball remake is inevitible. Hopefully FUNi will throw some money at one.

I know , I was joking, I still loathe that Hisashi Hirai style and the really garrish digital coloring grates on my nerves.

    (coughVizcough).

Anyway, Gundam the Origin would rock. It'd give new life to a franchise that seems stale to a lot of people.
