Toon Zone Talkback - "Gundam SEED" - The Complete Series Reviewed!

    Like This Thread!

In the distant future, mankind just dumps old weapons like F-18's and Stealth Bombers in favor of even cooler weapons like Gundams. And really, who wouldn't want a Gundam?

This is the Talkback for reviews for all 10 DVDs for Mobile Suit Gundam SEED, the Gundam for the 21st Century. Reap What You Sow.

And all good major marketing ventures need product tie-ins, and what better product tie-in than a manga side-story? How about a glorified clip show masquerading as a movie? Or two? or three?

WYSWEIG (or however you spell it) sucks when making image maps. -_-

This was supposed to go up way back in early May (in time for Vol. 10), but various delays caused it to be pushed back until today.

And for completionists sake, the splash! (which is 10 different images!)

One of the reasons I think Seed was generally more accepted in Japan than here was that they never got the original on dvd and we did.

I never quite got the mystery of the white hair either. The lyrics don't seem to suggest any reason for it...

    Oh crap, I was drifting off-topic, wasn't I?

    Excellent set of reviews Duke.

My only comment is about dub Lacus's singing. Some of us think it was Jillian Michaels (Shippo's VA, among others) that actually did the songs, not Chantal Strand. I don't think Chantal can do a voice that deep, because otherwise she would have used a deeper voice for when Lacus turned uber-serious during the last space arc.

Of course, that's just a minor nitpick, but I guess I've been in an argumentative mood this week. Blame GameFAQs. The Gundam board is almost completely polarized in regards to Destiny and the direction it's going. Every other topic is either a "Kira vs. Shinn" argument or a "Clyne Faction is good/bad" argument.

    ...I've got nothing.

Is it wrong to think these splashes or something similar should've been used as the art on the SEED Box? You can't argue about spoilers, they stuck Justice and Freedom on the sides.

At least 15 percent of the moviegoing audience experiences headache and eyestrain during 3-D movies. I'm one of them. And no, I don't need corrective eyewear.

Do you mean those secondary images in reviews 2-10? If so, they're either from magazine scans or the Japanese SEED Calandar.

I don't particularly mind the current SEED Box, but I do wish that some specialty art (like the one made for Zeta) could have been done.

Makes me wonder what they're gonna do for Destiny's volumes.

That would mean that there's 11 volumes. Since this series apparently has 50 episodes (just like SEED), Bandai would have to fill each disc with tons of special features in order to appease the fans if they did indeed go 11 volumes.

Or just cut down the last couple to four episodes a piece.

SEED Movie 1 and Astray (Toon Zone's very first manga review!) are up in the first post.
