Don't you hate it when dubbed stuff messes up the original?

I mean I just bought the1st disk of Bubblegum Crisis 2040 and I say it dubbed first, I then watched the sub and I was somewhat in shock. I mean gratuadis profanity at some points that wasn't even there originally , and some of the jokes/implied stuff was totally killed by the dub script. Anyone else know what I'm saying?

While I've never seen Bubble Gum Crisis, I know EXACTLY what you're saying. The dub of Sailor Moon S series made me SOOO mad!!! They made Haruka and Michiru cousins. COUSINS! And they changed everything!!! The Holy Grail was... ummm.... Well... I don't remember exactly what it was but it wasn't that... and then the Messiah was the Ambassador of peace or something.... Grrrr... ANd then there's the sailor name for Chibi-Usa. Sailor MINI Moon! MINI... OK... So Chibi is japanese but they could have come up with something better than Mini Moon! (I still think of Mini Me every time someone says Mini Moon ~poses like Dr. Evil w/ the pinky at the corner of the mouth~) Then in DBZ They went from Mr. Satan to Hercule! I see why but.. still... Hercule?
The would-be dub of Sailor Moon Sailor Stars makes me roar in anger. They were going to change Seiya from a guy/girl to a girl! the whole point behind the mysteriosuness of the Sailor Stars is no one really knows if they're girls or guys! (I STILL say they're girls but don't tell a CERTAIN persun, she'd be rather angry ~cough~ Starchild~cough cough~...)

ooooooooooh don't even get me started on sailor moon! uuuuuggggghh they RUINED it!!!! RUINED! i was like this: with smoke coming out of my head. and they think they're so funny with the mini moon crap just cuz of austin powers. gross me out. well, i guess i could be happy they didn't take the direct translation from the japanese cuz then it would be small rabbit (like sailor moon). wait, in the comic book version they change Serena's name to BUNNY to make her even MORE ditzier. anyway, dubbed versions suck. It was ok for gundam wing....until i watched the original with subtitles. but it's still bearable sometimes.

i still think the sailor stars are guys. =P they're guys! guys!

anyway, sometimes i wonder what these people are thinking when they decide to change everything and make everything horrible when things get dubbed.

"Bunny" is a pretty accurate translation of Usagi, so even if it sounds ditzy, the original wasn't much better.

Hmmm... Bunny... (or Buns... Cowtails... hehe... gotta love my Mamo in the manga) my personal opinion was always that they said Bunny because Serena didn't sound ditzy ENOUGH. not that she needed to be ditzier... ^^

Has anyone ever seen Magic Knight Rayearth? There's another one where the dub was pretty screwy... not by changing a lot in the story line, but the VOICES... o gawd... the voices!!! I watched the subbed and then the dubbed and the dubbed made my want to go hide in a corner.... those stupoid voices!!

Well, Usagi means "rabbit" more or less, and "Bunny" is a better name than "Rabbit." IMO, the manga should have just keep it "Usagi" or even just the DIC name "Serena" to cut down on the number of names she seems to have in the U.S., but what do I know...
