    Melody of Oblivion

    Like This Thread!
I've been drooling over this show for some time now.

It's the second of the two GAINAX shows this season.

Spoilers for the first episode follow.

The setting: Sometime in the future.
The world has been taken over by monsters. The skies over the planet are a bright red, and the streets have blood splotches all over them. (I'm still wondering why people in the show don't seem to notice that their highways are covered in blood. ><)

It's about a kid named Bocca who wants to be a "Warrior", like the people who fought against the monsters in the past.

He finds an actual warrior in a shop he has a part time job at...but when his best (girl)friend got involved in the strange events happening(kidnappings, etc.), then he decided to see what's happening.

What follows is some uber badass moments where he discovers his own power, and realizes that he can also see "her", the Melody of Oblivion.

Any who, he fights against things like huge chickens from the sky, schoolbusses that grow bull legs, and other freaky monsters.

In other words: GAINAX's WTF show of the year.

The show has some NICE music, good fight scenes, and overall rocks HARD.

Too bad the group that was subbing it lost their translator.
Hopefully a good company will license it soon so I can buy me some DVDs of this great show.
It was confirmed on September 14th that the Nintendo Wii will have a US launch on November 19th.
It shall retail for $250 US.

What type of show is it? it sounds interesting.

is it a sci-fi show, a comedy, fighting?

Yeah this does sound good, I'm surprised I've never heard of it until now.

Strange, I thought GAINAX's other show for this year was going to be Bushilord. Oh well, this sounds cool enough, although "highways covered in blood is so 1999.

Me too. I really want to check this out. As for the genre: I think it's mecha, shonen, sci-fi. Somewhere around there.

It's in the shonen genre for sure, bit it also is sci-fi, mind-****, a bit of mecha(They ride on motorcycles), and sentai.

    It's deliciously awesome.

I've written on this before, so I'll drop the short version:

Melody of Oblivion is probably the freshest thing out of Gainax since FLCL. The combination of JCStaff's visual style and Gainax's first original, non-coming-of-age over-driven story since Eva, makes it a must see this season. It's ballsy, it's odd, and it's fresh. Bushilord might have an easy time topping the self-mockery that is Konomini, but Melody of Oblivion is a whole other beast.

It's a Rondo Robe production, so Geneon would get first refusal.

Don't give me that Three Little Pigs hogwash. The P.R.R. doesn't interfere in this case.

Melody of Oblivion is Gainax/JCStaff exclusively. It could go anywhere.

Konomini is RondoRobe/Gainax with RondoRobe in a funding/planning position. That'll likely mean GeneonUSA gets the first shot in it.
