Hmm.... let's see.... oooo! I know.... Saikano is my nomination.
The Anime of the Month is meant to highlight anime that might not otherwise get any exposure and allow everyone to expose themselves to something new that they might not otherwise have seen. Ideally, everyone will nominate and vote for an anime that they haven't seen, but would like to. Only one nomination per board member will be accepted. Any nominations after your first will be ignored, so don't bother. I do take multiple nominations of the same title into account when deciding what should go on the poll-- all else being equal, if more people nominated one title over another, then the title with the most nominations will probably be the one selected.
Other criteria:
* Previous Anime of the Month cannot be nominated, which currently rules out Excel Saga, GTO, Read or Die, Kare Kano (His and Her Circumstances), Witch Hunter Robin, X TV, Noir, Last Exile, Haibane Renmei, Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi, Kiddy Grade, Fruits Basket, and Azumanga Daioh.
* Any anime which has been shown on widely available American television during the past few years (which mostly rules out anything on TechTV, Cartoon Network, Fox Kids, International Channel, etc.) is ineligible, since it probably doesn't need any more exposure.
* Only anime that has been officially released in the U.S. is eligible. No offense, fansubbers, but we like to keep everything 100% legal here. Mucking around in legal and ethical gray areas tends to cause more trouble than it's worth, at least as far as Toonzone is concerned. What you do in the privacy of your own home is none of our business. (-:
* Anime television series, feature-length movies, and OVAs are all equally acceptable. In the case of releases spanning multiple DVD and/or VHS releases, though, the discussion will primarily focus on the first volume in order to minimize costs for those who wish to participate. Discussion of later releases is allowed, but spoilers beyond the first volume should be omitted or placed in spoiler tags.
If you have any comments or suggestions on how to improve the selection process or just the concept in general, please feel free to post those. And as always, any questions can be posted on this thread or directed to myself via PM.
Let the nominations begin!
Hmm.... let's see.... oooo! I know.... Saikano is my nomination.

How, pray tell, could that make me squirm?
Jag man you know I tear up every time I see you 'round." -RD
Sucks that we can't redo stuff.
If Kiddy Grade was selected this month, it would've been awesome seeing as the story finally kicks in. And what a story. o_o
Any who...my nomination is...
Choujuushin Gravion!
(Super Heavyweight God Gravion!!)
It's an awesome super robot show!
Complete with hot-blooded combination song!
And the cheesiness factor makes it even better.
Oh, the first DVD + box is only $27 at Best Buy, and it comes with 5 episodes, a really great looking box, and little static clings of Grand Kaiser and Gravion.
The first season will be 3 DVDs, and I'm assuming the second season, Gravion Zwei will also be 3.
It was confirmed on September 14th that the Nintendo Wii will have a US launch on November 19th.
It shall retail for $250 US.

I also wish that KG wasn't nominated so early. The story is starting to become pretty awesome.

since true noir won't nominate it, I'll nominate Saikano. It's a good show, and at 25 bucks list, it's a steal.
I'm going for (the original) Dirty Pair OVA. Rightstuff.com has it on VHS for $.99 per volume, so it wouldn't bankrupt anyone to try it.
Current Avatar: Mikuru Asahina from "The melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya".
R.I.P Un-cut Pretty Cure.
Haruhisim.

Dirty Pair OVA
.hack//Legend of the Twilight (Seconded)
Kaleido Star
Neoranga
Saikano
Choujuushin Gravion!
(Super Heavyweight God Gravion!!)Peace Maker Kurogane
Can anyone confirm that these have been released? There's no info on them at www.animeondvd.com.
I actually wanted to abide by the rules for once, but in order to make up for not nominating Saikano, I highly recommend that anyone who has not seen this series get up from there lazy butt and go buy it.Originally Posted by Karl Olson
