Ok, after reccomendation from this board, and given a chance, I checked out FLCL episode #1. All I have to say is:

HUH?!?

What in the world was going on?? I have absolutely no idea what it was that I just watched.

Can anyone give a small hint?

Just go with it. There is no deep meaning. It's just a lot of nonsense--which can be pretty entertaining at times.

I've seen the name Flcl pop up in conversations at several boards I go to on a regular basis but no one ever talks about the show. So naturally I have no idea what it is. Anyone care to help me out?

"Episode 1: FLCL

The time: the present... perhaps.
The place is an outlying city called Mabase, from which grows the gigantic Medical Mechanica plant.
Nandaba Naota, a smart-aleck schoolkid, gets sideswiped by a Vespa on his way home with his brother's girlfriend, Samejima Mamimi.
When he gets home from school the next day, he finds the woman on the Vespa from the day before in his living room. Naota is stunned as he listens to his father explain that he has just hired her as their new housekeeper. She tells him her name is Haruko.
Naota doesn't know how to react to the fact that he and Haruko are suddenly living under the same roof.
And then there's the mysterious robot that suddenly appears before Naota when he goes out into the night for Mamimi.
Things get strange very quickly... "

...It *IS* very confusing but I think it's an awesome series because I like stuff I can watch over and over and get it a little more each time I watch it

I used to like all Gainax stuff, but I find I enjoy the Anno-directed ones better. FLCL is fun, but Kare-Kano and Evangelion seem more "meaty" to me.

BTW, the R1 release of FLCL will go under the title, "Fooly Cooly."

Will it be dubbed or subbed? I may have understood the ep better if it were in english. Especially the dinner scene. It went too fast to read everything...
