Well, ,well. Someone else has seen the dirt eating hand now. In the beginning, girl came of to me as a SL_T. Remember when she says he can sleep with her if he wanted? That spoke to me. Seriously though, it's a pretty good movie.
As a rule I'm not up for this kind of creepish, vampire slayer stuff, and I even felt kind of guilty, even if I was just looking at it as art, but man was this movie well made. Everything from the writing to the animation to the charecters where so well crafted and yuo can tell the thing required thought. There where less then 2 dozen of us in the theatre, but we just looked on in awe. Anyway, this movie shows really well what the animated medium is capable of if unleashed.

I hate myself and I want to die.
Hmm. Think he meant the new version that just came out. I saw this about a week ago. Really gorgeous animation and pretty good story, but the dialogue was a mess. If I hadn't been told beforehand, I'd have sworn this was a dub.
I had the same problem with the Final Fantasy movie. Why is it that scripts obviously translated from Japanese originals have exposition-heavy dialogue all run together?
Best line: "Nice hat."
Is Blood X (or whatever) the sequel to this movie? I heard Blood X was good although really short.

Blood and Vampire Hunter D are totally unrelated. They are just two vampire movies. However, Blood is based on a video game, and the anime film (48 minutes in length) only tells a very short story. It feels like one part of a bigger story.
Any word on when Vampire Hunter D will be out on DVD, for those of us who are out in the boonies with no hope of anime ever being shown in the theater?

You read it... you can't un-read it!
Out in the "boonies"? Like, less than 20 theatres in the entire US are showing the movie...
While we're on the subject of Blood though, I know the animation is supposed to be spectacular...but is it worth the purchase?
Also, I didn't mention this before but whats up with Blade ripping off Vampire Hunter D? I mean, Blade's sequel is also subtitled Bloodlust...

Sir John Harrington (1561-1612)
Blood is worth a rental, but not a purchase. At 45 minutes and with a very simple and routine story, it really isn't worth owning. On the other hand, it sure looks good.
Oooo...me love vampire stuff.
I think Vampire Hunter D should be out on DVD in either late October, or sometime November. Either way, I'm absolutely sure it'll be out in time for christmas(It's already on my wish list).
Blood X...I've heard very little of it. Isn't it supposed to be really...bloody? hehe..
Blade 2: Bloodlust...I'll go see it, but I'm not as excited about this one.
Now, if you want a REALLY GOOD Anime, pick up "Master of Mosquiton". It's somewhere in my top 5 fav's. And I'm talking about the OVAs, not the Anime. The OVA is the original/real story. Great animation, and a really great story to boot. Just be warned..there is a fair amount of nudity & sexuality...but the nudity is only in one episode(It involves his..well shaped wife..in..heat...and Mosquitons new..friend..running around the house. You'd have to see it). But heed to my second warning. There is a "Mosquiton 99" or something like that. It's a modern day made-for-tv version, that is really bad. *sigh*
Anyway..all I'm trying to say is...
Mosquiton can kick D's butt! Hehe!
