Kikaider 01 ep. 3 missing scene

Well, not much story content was cut by losing this scene, but we lose precious seconds of Zadam's only appearance in this show. Who is Zadam, you ask. Well, the original live-action Kikaider 01 series featured a few more characters than what you see in this OAV series. After Hakaider and Shadow Knight prove to be no match for 01, the leader of Shadow (Who wasn't Gill in the original show) subcontracted the job out to a few more minions. Zadam was a two headed devil android who commanded Shadow's moonbase (Not to be confused with the SHADO moonbase from the old UFO series). Zadam stuck around until the end of the show, and when he was proved to be no match for the Kikaider brothers, the job was sub-subcontracted to an assassin android named Waruda.

The saddest thing about the Kikaider 01 OAV series only being 4 episodes long is that Waruda never gets a chance to show up, and he was one of the most interesting characters from the original show. His schtick was that he was an incredibly honorable fighter who would only fight after introducing himself, dispatching a written challenge, and making sure that the odds were completely even with his opponent. Since he wasn't actually a member of Shadow, he prided himself on being a professional, not a mere criminal. He also fell in love with Bijinder and wanted to free her from Shadow's control.

As you could imagine, Ichiro didn't want to fight a guy this cool. He filled the "cool, likable villain" role that the original Hakaider had in the first series and, like Saburo, died tragically and honorably.

Oh, and Bijinder had a deadly boobytrap (STOP RIGHT THERE, MR. DIRTY-MIND!). She contained a micro-atomic bomb which was activated by (I kid you not) unbuttoning the third button on her blouse. They were constantly making her faint in human form in front of Ichiro, who would help by loosening her collar. As he'd unbutton the blouse, the narrator would start yelling "Watch out, Zero-One! If you undo the third button, the atom bomb inside will explode!" Something would always come up to stop him from undoing that third button. Oh, well...

Anyway, here's what happens in the cut scene tonight:

THE SCENE OPENS WITH A GROUP OF SHADOW ANDROBOTS
SURROUNDING AN ABANDONED FACTORY. ZADAM, THEIR
TWO-HEADED COMMANDER, GIVES THE WORD TO ATTACK.

ZADAM
ATTACK!

AS THEY ANDROBOTS MOVE IN, THROWING THEIR CHEESY
LIGHTNING STAFFS, ZERO-ONE APPEARS ON HIS MOTORCYCLE
AND COMES OUT SHOOTING!

So that "Zadam" character was the one that was easily destroyed by Rei/00 in the third episode. Its too bad they really didn't get as in-depth as they did with the first Kikaider series (well, the main one) because it could of been interesting to have this sort of depth instead of...well...stuff leading to that finale!
