    Whats goin on w/ AS?

    Like This Thread!
Why is all this toonami crap trying to take over? The reason why it comes on so late is so kids can't watch it. Toonami will probably advertise for it during the day while DBZ or some other crap is on. Last night, I did see that 2min commercial about Advance Robotics and it looked kinda like Pilot Candidate and Gundam got in a fight, so I don't really care for any of that. I'm just kinda pissed of right now. so I don't know what we'll have to do but please don't let them take advantage of us and turn AS into crap.

    Toonami music+Toonami intros+Toonami music videos=Toonami.

Pretty soon TOM and his game reviews will air during AS.

    Yup.

Still, it'd be pretty funny to see this big over-hyped "Adult Block" wind up as another Toonami. And it doesn't seem too unlikely at this point, either.

Trust me, this will definitely not happen. ASA is its own seperate entity, and other than this silly opening debate, it has steered in the right direction.

    1) They got rid of Pilot Candidate, a show that, although good, did not fit the "Adult" bill very well.

    2) They picked up IY, and did a minimal amount of cuts as well.

    3) The Toonami version of OS will likely be removed from the block once GitS: SAC/ Big O 2 comes on, which will again gear it more towards adults.

If anything, I feel that they are going in the correct direction, and removing the original ops is simply an annoyance, not a necessity.

The removal of the intros for Inuyasha and Outlaw Star bother me, I rarely watch 0083 so it's not a big deal to me, personally.

Since I tape AS every week, I simply watch a taped version of the IY opening before Adult Swim starts, so the mood of the show isn't ruined by the vacancy where the opening should be.

I'm hoping that Cartoon Network gets their butts moving and realizes how stupid what they're doing is, and fixes this problem as soon as they can... Oh well, it's not the end of the world. Even if they do make it into Toonami II or whatever, it's not like they're about to re-edit Bebop and everything. They're not that stupid.

Yes, this is getting to wierd, I wonder why they removed the original openings for a few shows, 0083 and Outlaw Star have an explination since they are indeed Toonami material in the ways of editing, but Inu Yasha is ASA material, there fore the original opening should be left in, now they have taken out the Eye Catcher that shows the times each show is on, that doesn't really matter, but I have my own theory on why some shows have had their titles cut off and replaced by ones made for ASA, they just want to be able to fit one ore two extra commercial between commercial breaks, they will even speed up scenes in certain shows if it was just to show people walking around, where no big action takes place, they are able to get those extra commercials in due to cutting about a minute and a half title down to 15-30 seconds to get extra commercials in SAVE THE ORIGINAL OPENINGS!!

You added the "although good" so that I didn't get angry? How thoughtful!

Anyway, back on topic. Although the removal of the OP is annoying, you know what, the OP's aren't what makes the show "Adult". You'll still get the Adult programing your used to but just without the nice OP's. Although, CB and YYH still have thier OP's, I don't think we'll be hearing V6 sing Inu-Yasha's theme anytime soon. (Which BTW, is a good song)

This stuff does irk me too (the openings, mainly, since their inclusion made it seem like a block for more serious animation buffs), but of course, what's really important is the content of the shows. Until they start editing the shows heavily again, Adult Swim will not be Toonami. That's all there is to it.

I really wonder what the reasoning is, though. There must be SOMETHING to it. How come only certain intros have been replaced? Cowboy Bebop and Yu-Yu Hakusho (Bebop especially) do have more "America-friendly" intros than the shows whose intros were replaced. I have to wonder...

I keep wondering if Toonami is slowly taking over ASA. The lead in shows are He-man and TA, I see lots of toonami clips and see Tom at night.

I'd like to see the viewing demographics on ASA maybe they realize that the 18 and under set are making up most of their audience and are thus skewing to their demographic? I don't know obviously but it does make me go hmmm.
