I'm not sure this has already been brought up, but who thinks Excel Saga should be on ASA? It is an action show (Well sometimes..) and 2 DVDs are out.

Just about everyone does. Except for Staneau, that is.

No one thinks it will actually happen, though.

As I said before, watch an entire series before you think that it would work for the lineup.

    There are some issues...

if anything it deserves to be on Sunday night...not Saturday. and even if it was considered...um...well there are a few issues to be dealt with in showing it. first...the 26th episode would never air. period. it is, just as the title of the episode is, Too Much. second...there is a doctor in the second half of the series (he helps design the Division for Public Safty's gear, not to mention the Ropenmatsu series) who has an unnatural liking of little girls (the whole idea goes to a very very wrong area with episode 26). third, the show in itself is just to niche for the current audience to really grasp all the jokes, from the refernces to 80's J-rock to the really obscure references to other anime it just would go over to many viewers heads.

it is a nice thought to have this show air at some point...but right now it is just to early for any company to show it.
Aren't you tired of all of this? I know I am.

And of course we would never see the 2-episode spin-off "Puni-Puni Poemi".
    That thing is just WRONG!

I love it, but it's just WRONG on so many levels. If you've seen it, you'd understand.

    Yes i understand...

little girls shouldnt be doing that with each other...its just...wrong.

on a side note...i think it is funny as hell that Sandora is working on that very same spin off series in the Excel vs America episode.

    Excel Saga.. Excel Saga...

I normally love weird anime (FLCL is my favorite ever) but I gotta say, Excel Saga is too outlandish even for me. I don't think I can ever see it airing on US TV due to its style of humor. It's a bit too Japanese. (shrug)

WAY too Japanese. It would be like them trying to laugh at Bill Clinton jokes.

<The following post will be based on the first DVD exclusively. The series may change after the first five episodes, but I don't know anything about said episodes.>

As aboslutely hilarious as I think the show is (just look at my avatar), I'm going to have to agree with Beatdigga and Idioteque. It's just too much of a niche anime title for it to be funny to everyone that watches it. Besides the fact that it goes a bit... overboard for AS "standards" every now & then.

Yeah Nabeshin (the Afro guy) is awesome. He also plays Poemi's father in "Puni-Puni Poemi".

For those who say the humor in Excel Saga is too Japanese, they said the humor in Monty Python was too British for American audiences to understand, and just look at the success they had. The American public can handle a lot more than they're given credit for.

It would make a great edition to ASC. They might be able to squeeze in episode 26 but the sequel Puni Puni Poemi I agree would have no chance on the network.

Browsers without script show text larger than they appear.

Okay, I'm a big fan of what I refer to as "Crack Anime" (any series that's funny and you get to hear that cracking sound of other people's mind snapping as they attempt to comprehend it.)

However Excel Saga is too much. It is proof that Crack Anime is an addictive substance and needs to be govenmentally regulated.

I mean. One DVD of Ranma 1/2 is enough crack anime to keep me going for a week.

    And that's nothing these days.

I can get my weekly Crack Anime intake with just ONE episode of "Love Hina" or "Onegai Teacher" - much higher levels of Crack Anime were being introduced onto the market, but still on an acceptable or safe level.

However, in most cases Excel Saga will result in an Overdose. This anime series has caused insanity, hospitalizations and even fatalities in some areas, proving that it's just too much crack anime for some people. Puni Puni Poemi has been known to cause death within minutes of viewing! This is an Epidemic, people! The FDA has not approved Excel Saga for public watching!

FOR GOD'S SAKE, JUST SAY NO!

I would love this on ASA, but it has about as much a chance of coming there as Ralph Nader becoming president.

BTW, does anyone else find Excel's dub voice really REALLY irritating?

As much as I love the series, it would not be a good idea to put it on American TV. The only way the series should be seen by Americans is on DVD only.
The ADVid-Notes really do explain a lot of what's going on, unless you are very familar with Japanese culture (in that case you only need the Japanese DVDs).

Well I guess you'll be happy to know that her dub voice quit halfway through because doing the voice was damaging to her vocal chords.
