    Cowboy Bebop on CN

    Like This Thread!
I don't know anything about Cowboy Bebop, but apparently it will be on the Adullt Swim block on Sun. CN is unsure how much editing will be done. Follow the link for the news, and some Samurai Jack info.

I've heard a lot about this from you guys, so I'll definitely be watching to see what all of the noise is about.

Very stylish anime series. It's about bounty hunters in the future. I don't think I liked it quite as much as other fans, but I still think it's a quality show, with good visuals and rather smooth animation by anime standards. It took me about 3 episodes to really get into it, though, so it's somewhat of a slow starter.

It's also episodic. With the exception of two two-parters, every episode stands on its own.

Here's a fairly accurate take on the show, though personally I would rate the series in the B+ to A- range.

An exceptional series. I have all the episodes on DVD, and am quite happy with them. Worth watching all the way thru, and the last episode is simply awesome. It's good to hear this quality of programming will be on TV.

Cowboy Bebop was actually going to be apart of TOONAMI this summer before it's block was cut back by an hour. It was supposed to have premiered in early July.

Being on an adult block is better, as it guarantees airing it more intact.

I'm still skeptical. The amount of violence and questionable elements in "Bebop" is expotentially greater than any other anime they've brought out to date. There's no way they could've shown this on the daytime Toonami block without shredding it. The amount of smoking and alcohol consumption alone is enough to nix a third of the airtime. My favorite episode included the gratuitous use of hallucinogenic mushrooms for example.

    And the ending. . .
Definitely belongs on the adult block.

Oh, and in case you couldn't tell, I loved the series. All hail Radical Edward.

I hope that the "higher ups" will keep their grubby hands off of Bebop. Maybe we can get Kenshin on next. Either way I'll be cuddling with my CB dvds.

I just started watching Bowboy Bebop. All it took was Session 1, on VHS. In one weeks time after watching that..I bought the first two DVDs. I love every single detail about this show. It's absolutely awesome.

And I'm happy that the Adult swim is going to have at least 1 good show!

BTW. CB shows the DANGERS of alcohol & drug abuse. First episode. Then in "Heavy Metal Queen", we see good ol' Spike, teaching kids how to get over a hangover. Yummy!

My tremendous intuitive sense of the female creature informs me that you are troubled...

I wouldn't quite say the AMOUNT of violence is greater than any show out there...if you were strictly talking about amount, then Gundam Wing, Dragon Ball Z and Batman Beyond all have more violence than Cowboy Bebop. However, like The Sopranos, Cowboy Bebop's violence is more *graphic* than plentiful. It's actually a very laid back show.

I would rate Cowboy Bebop's "controversial" content about on par with any HBO series, minus the excessive cursing and sex scenes.

So who here who has the DVDs of the show will watch it on CN? I don't think I will bother. I might watch one to see how they cut it up. Sometimes the way they cut things up makes watching movies on TV worhtwhile, and makes watching it a funny and unique experience you couldn't get from watching it uncut.

For example, anybody watch There's Something About Mary on FOX? The way they cut that up was almost as funny as the movie, especially the entire "hair gel" sequence. That was just too funny the way they cut that up. And then there's Blue Velvet on Bravo. Dennis Hopper's character's use of the four letter explentative is replaced by "freak." Needless to say, it rarely fit in with the context of what he was saying. It made it very laughable.

It will be edited. And this is still preliminary news. They might look at it and decide not to air it after all...there's a lot of months between now and fall.
