    Cowboy Bebop: Call me crazy

    Like This Thread!
O.k, for starters, I understand that we have had a number of these posts, but I have been seriously taking this into concideration, and I've been watching a lot of movies, & watched a lot of actors, and I have come up with a fine list of actors who could pull off a Cowboy Bebop live action movie. I'm NOT saying they should, or that my choices are THE best...I'm just saying that based off of observation, appearances, etc., these actors & actresses might have what it takes....

    Spike:
You will think I'm crazy, but...Jeff Goldblum. I understand what some peoples concerns might be, but just listen. First off, he's tall & walks EXACTLY like Spike(I was watching The Lost World, & as we was walking into the mansion, with his hands in his pockets...the walk & overall look/appearance was absolutely perfect. Also, his hair could look just like Spike's if it's cut right. His ears are abit big..though. Anyway, his personality(which shines through every movie performance he does) is the big problem, otherwise, he has a laid-back attitude that would work for Spike. Then again, Mr. Goldblum doesn't seem relaxed enough for Spike.
Maybe Stephen Dorf was a good idea.....sorta....

Vicious: Michael Wincott. Did you ever see The Crow? He was 'the bad guy'. He has the look, the voice, the attitude, and he does an excelent job of playing a cruel sadistic criminal organization leader. There is no man alive who could play a better vicious.

    How about...

i say that the idea for a Bebop live action movie would be a bad idea?
Aren't you tired of all of this? I know I am.

Howdy, new poster here, and seeing the CB live-action thread, I just couldn't resist

See, after seeing the movie True Lies again for the first time in forever, it struck me...Jamie Lee Curtis as Faye Valentine wouldn't be too bad (if she were younger!)...but seriously, she has that certain attitude and look that would work as a live-action Faye if done right.

That's all I can think of, I apologize!

I sure don't want the live action film to happen, it would hurt to see Bebop go bop with unsequential actors who without a doubt ever watched the anime series in the first place.

Hey... if it's done right, it could work.

    For example TMNT...
The first one rocked because it was beliveable.
The second one sucked because they tried to emulate the cartoon too much.
The third one rocked BIG TIME.

The Flintstones- Could've been better if they stopped trying to be like a cartoon.

George Of The Jungle- Nearly Perfect!

If the script was done with care (I know some changes will upset some fans), I think it will work for a movie. One thing should saty is the music.

Neve Cambell (sp) would do a nice Faye, I think.

Although I'm not saying I want CB to be a made into a movie.

I'm suddenly reminded of the live action dbz movie thread at toonami a while ago...

After much thought, I can't think of a single solitary actor/actress that could pull off faye, spike, jet, or ed. If they made a movie (and I'm not a fan of seeing anime in live action) they would have to use unknowns. Jeff Goldblum isn't quiet enough to play spike. Neve Campbell as faye..it could work I guess, I just don't see it though. Jamie Lee Curtis is a bit older than faye, though I agree, her character in "a fish called wanda" was a lot like that.

Goldblum as Spike? That's like PERFECT casting.

I couldn't see Curtis as Faye... Neve Campbell? Yes... possibly... I could also see Christina Ricci as Faye as well.

What about Jet? And Ed? For Jet I'm thinking Patrick Stewart or Sean Connery.. they both have a very hard, distinct profile, and pull off baldness very well.

I have NO idea who could pull off Ed.
My origins have been clouded in mystery... some say that I was once a man, known as Hamato Yoshi. Another tale states that I was once merely a humble pet rat of a man named Hamato Yoshi. For the record allow me to state that both are true... and yet, neither is true. Such is the way of Ninjitsu.

I'm pretty sure someone said this before in past threads, but Ed should just be cut completely should a movie be made. They would completely mess her up, and the story wouldn't really suffer without her.

Once again, before I reply to anything, I would like to state once more...No I don't think a live action CB movie should be made, nor do I want one to be made. I'm just saying "what if?".

I agree with Ed. She should be cut all together. She's entirely to cartoonish to be done in a live action film(unless she's entirely CG...heh...). BUT, if they HAD TO use Ed, I'd say....save her for a sequel(If a CB movie is made, you know they'd probably find some way to make a sequel. if DBZ can do it...). Maybe the entire plot of a sequel could be about Spike tracking down the infamous hacker. I dunno...just a thought. But, Ed would probably break the movie. Oh...but, if Ed was used, then Spike could say his "3 things I hate..." speach.

    You're Crazy!!!

No not really, I just had to say that though.

Ok, I can see your choice for Vicious, but Jeff Goldblum's just too... Gawky and funny to be spike. No For spike you need a Serious actor with a sense of humor. Not a Humorous actor with a sense of seriousness.

As for Jet, I still think that Vin Diesel is perfect Physicaly, and with a little makeup and humor, he could be Jet. (He's have to be makeup aged a little, but I think He's perfect.)

I agree with Momijii, CB is to good of an anime for it to become a Live Action one, it's too good. The creators of CB did a good job of developing each character personality, which means it would be too hard to match Spikes, Faye, and Jet, personalities, especially ED's. Sure that's what acting is all about, but still it's just to difficult, they would simply kill the movie. But then again that's just my opinon.

(Bart) wow! God is so in your face.
(Homer) Yea, he's my favorite fictional character

Alright, should I start listing bad movies made from good cartoons, comics, and video games? Cause if they could make a bad movie out of X-Men, Street Fighter, Tank Girl, and Batman (when Joel Shumacher took over), they can make a bad movie out of anything and you won't be able to stop them, the bastards.

Then again, what about the successes? Blade, Mortal Kombat I, Batman, and Batman Returns... It's possible to do a good live action version of anything as long as it's done right.

This being said, here is my cast:

    Spike : Vince Vaughn
    Starred in Swingers, Psycho, Made
    Jet : Michael Ironside
Starship Troopers, Total Recall, Top Gun...
    Faye : Natalie Portman
The Professional, Star Wars: Episode 1 and 2
Vicious : Michael Wincoot (Thanks for the idea JustJack)
The Crow, Strange Days, Count of Monte Cristo

BTW, I think getting rid of Ed is a terrible idea. She acts as the comic relief, and sadly I can only equate her to Jar Jar Binks... Damn you Jar Jar!!! However, Jar Jar is an unfair example of what
Ed could be, and while it's true that she would be a tough character to portray, she would ideally be played by Tina Majorino (Corina Corina, Waterworld) if it were still 1995...

    Damn! You're right...!!

Vince Vaughn would be perfect for Spike...

(As for the rest...hmm, Ironside maybe--don't know about Portman...and Wincott was the slimy villain in The Crow, right? If so, yep, another perfectly cast individual...)

I think we'd need a pornstar to play Faye.
It's the only women that would uhhh "fit"

Ya know, that all CG Ed idea... kinda sounds good. It's just the first thing that comes to mind for me.

Not a big fan of live-action Bebop ideas, but...meh, respondy-respondy.

    Natalie Portman? Not...really...

Vince Vaughn actually might be an okay choice...

Couldn't picture anyone for Jet, though. I have high expectations for Jet for a number of reasons.

Ooh, and CG Ed? I don't know. Maybe. But Ed must be there. Yay for Ed!
