Regular Show kinda had an "edge" back in Season 1, but CN got complaints about that so it was cleaned up a bit.

Exactly, A funny comedy like regular show that's a bit more consistently risque.

In my opinion, CN should have a block with some slightly-edgier-then-daytime shows (Regular Show unedited, Space Ghost: Coast to Coast, Home Movies, some of Toonami's tamer material like Naruto, One Piece, Bleach, and IGPX) from 8PM-10PM then get into the more adult stuff later at night.

I still think Robot Chicken's not appropriate for 8PM (7PM CST, 3PM HST). TV-14 can get away with a lot of risque stuff I don't think should be shown off at that time on a channel typically put in the family tier on cable providers.

That would be nice but in the land of demographic targeting that's a hard sell.

Naruto and One Piece did fantastic with young viewers back in 2005 but that audience grew up and now those shows pull in more adults than teenagers despite them being most appropriate for teen audiences when they are left uncensored.

CN wants nothing to do with teenagers who are older than 14 and advertisers aren't that interested in them either. 18-34 is where the money is so that's the game they want to play.

When a kid turns 15 CN basically does what KND does to 13-year-olds. It really can't be helped.

Adult Swim may eventually claim any hour that the advertisers believe more adults will be watching but time will tell how far they're willing to go.
Adult Swim is on the shopping spree. Who knows that one day they will expand to twelve hours... Like what @Sketch said (CN from 7am to 7pm, [as] from 7pm to 7am).

They really may as well become their own network.

I've noticed lately Gumball reruns at 6AM do rather well with adults but not so much with kids. Is this evidence that CN's audience is not waking up at 6AM anymore? I could easily see 6AM-7AM going to Adult Swim but they'll have to play VERY safe in that slot so nothing beyond PG. On the bright side that would likely mean another hour of Toonami (but on the end less people care about).

In other news, Adult Swim is trying something peculiar on Sunday May 4th after a few weeks of disappointing ratings from Venture Bros. in the 8pm hour. They're adding more Rick & Morty. Far too much actually since the same episode will air 4 times in one night.

8:00 PM - Venture Bros. "Midlife Chrysalis"
8:30 PM - Robot Chicken "Celebrity Rocket"
8:45 PM - Robot Chicken "Dragon Nuts"
9:00 PM - Rick and Morty "Lawnmower Dog"
9:30 PM - Bob's Burgers "My Fuzzy Valentine"
    10:00 PM - Bob's Burgers "Lindapendent Woman"
10:30 PM - Family Guy "And the Wiener Is..."
11:00 PM - Family Guy "Death Lives"
11:30 PM - Robot Chicken "Rebel Appliance"
11:45 PM - Superjail "Mayhem Donor"
12:00 AM - Rick and Morty "Lawnmower Dog"
    12:30 AM - China, IL "China-Man Begins"
    1:00 AM - Metalocalypse "Dethmas"
    1:30 AM - Bob's Burgers "Lindapendent Woman"
2:00 AM - Family Guy "And the Wiener Is..."
2:30 AM - Family Guy "Death Lives"
3:00 AM - Robot Chicken - "Rebel Appliance"
3:15 AM - Superjail "Mayhem Donor"
3:30 AM - Rick and Morty "Lawnmower Dog"
    4:00 AM - China, IL "China-Man Begins"
    4:30 AM - Metalocalypse "Dethmas"
5:00 AM - Rick and Morty "Lawnmower Dog"
5:30 AM - Bob's Burgers "My Fuzzy Valentine"

It is especially bizarre that the are airing the same episode with just an hour between them toward the end.

    CORRECTION:

This 4x Rick and Morty business starts this Sunday with the first episode. Pretty Rickdiculous if you ask me but I'm curious how it will do.
