    Basic Gundam Question

    Like This Thread!
I'm not a Gundam fan, nor do I claim to be. Still, I am curious about one thing: what are the differences between the "Unviersal Century" timeline used in "Mobile Suit Gundam" and the "alternate realities" used in "Gundam Wing"? I hear you guys talking about this all of the time, but I no clue on what you are talking about.

Universal Century referrs to all the shows with a common timeline. (UC 0079, etc)
    MSG
    08th MS Team
    0080
    0083
    etc...

Alternate Universe referrs to all the shows that have nothing to do continuity-wise with any other Gundam show.
    Gundam Wing
    G Gundam
    etc...

    Well its dirt simple.

Shows like Mobile Suit Gundam, Gundam 0080, Gundam 0083, 08th MS Team and so on follow the "Universal Century" time line. Universal Century is the year plan that is adapted in stuff like MSG and its spin off shows.

Shows like Gundam Wing follow the "After Colony" or "Alternate Universe" time line in which the Gundam Wing guys are in.

The best place to get some info on the time lines of both "Universal Century" and "Alternate Universe/After Colony" at Gundam Offical which is Bandai's offical US Gundam site. http://www.gundamofficial.com/

Yes that was everything was true before Turn A Gundam... I believed what Tyler and Ravenger told us about the Gundam Universe... But after watching Turn A Gundam this all changed in huge way..

If I just get off topic for a second or so.... If you guys remember that in Gundam 0083 *last episode* that aired on ASA.... That the Federation's Generals were talking about the old calender (King Edward) that they had something just like this before we changed our calender to Universal Century....

This means after or between some of those series of the Universal Century there could be Gundam Wing, Gundam X, or G Gundam because they could have changed their timeline and they could have gone back to it... When they say there was no gundam to be seen after that day... This probably means that there weren't any gundam during that calender... So in way all the gundam series are connected that's what's happening Japan about all the gundam series...

I probably say all these series probably take place between those 200 UC gaps between some of those series...

For Example there could be a series between Char's counterattack and Victory Gundam and Gundam Savior....

I am saying this because in Turn A gundam there are new type's Zaku's... I am not saying that they are similiar looking that's why I am connecting them but I am saying this because my chinese friends who went to Hong Kong and Japan last summer while Turn A Gundam was on tv... He told me that Bandia of Japan are saying that all of the gundam of series are going to be connected by some way....

So in conclusion all Gundam Series are connected by some means or another....
I see two young birds flying in the sky
Flapping their wings as they fly
Spreading their love throughout the sky
I see a young lonely bird flying in the sky
Silently crying to himself as he flies
Hoping that he’ll find his love before he dies - Zapages

While no one knows exactly where Turn A comes in, the Universal Century starts after the year 2050 A.D., when Side 1 becomes host to the first space colony. AC series' could be nothing more than something that happened after a cataclysm.
