Harribel recalled her past when she was a Vasto Lorde-ranked Hollow. Saving her then-future Fracción Apacci from a male Hollow, Harribel recruited her into her group, along with Mila Rose and Sung-Sun to grow stronger and kill ravenous male Hollows. The quartet later encountered Barragan when he was king of Hueco Mundo, and Harribel wounded a shark-like Hollow when he approached her. When Aizen, Gin, and Kaname arrived in Hueco Mundo to recruit Barragan, Aizen took interest in Harribel. Some time later, Harribel's group was attacked by the shark Hollow, now an Arrancar. Harribel fought him but nearly lost. Her friends also fought him but were also defeated. Aizen then appeared and killed the Arrancar. After, he offered Harribel a place in his army, telling her that no one would have to be sacrificed in order to grow stronger. In the present, Aizen expressed disappointment in the Espada's strength. Harribel angrily attacked him, but then realized that she attacked an illusion and was stabbed in the back of her left shoulder by the real Aizen. He then stated that he would never allow her to raise her sword against him again and withdrew his sword, which sent Harribel plummeting into the city below. Aizen then challenged the Gotei 13 and Visored in combat.

And there she goes like the fool she is. The smart ass little girls in this series are always the ones who end up going all catatonic when they fight someone who don't put up with their tsundere nature.
