The cut-down Kakashi proves to be an illusion borne of the Substitution Jutsu, and Sasuke realizes he's given away his position and panics. With Naruto defeated, both Sasuke and Sakura attempt to battle Kakashi, but Sakura is hit by an illusion jutsu and is left confused and terrified, and Sasuke, while faring better than his teammates, is also defeated after a hard battle. While Sasuke and Sakura struggle, Naruto tries to sneak the boxed lunches Kakashi had prepared, but is caught by Kakashi and tied to a post. Kakashi berates the three ninja after the time limit expires, explaining that the point of the exercise was teamwork, and Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura all fell into Kakashi's trap of pitting them as competitors rather than teammates. He gives them one more chance but forbids the team from feeding Naruto. However, Sasuke disobeys this order, explaining that Naruto won't provide much help if he's hungry, and Sakura agrees. Kakashi catches them in the act but surprises the three young ninja by passing them. After a lecture of disobedience, he tells the three that while those who disobey orders are scum, those that would abandon their comrades because of orders are worse than scum.

Actually, it makes sense to send the lower level ninjas on menial jobs - not only does it build experience without on dangerous jobs, but it's a good way to raise revenue. It may not be glamorous, but it pays the bills.

Okay decent episode. The other characters were tolerable this time, okay Sasuke was a bit of a prick, but other than that, they were tolerable even Sakura, who showed some concern for Naruto's well being.
