It's sad that in the end, so much evil is done all in the name of 'Everyone Else is Doing It'.

All I see is a Jackson Pollock.
Oh, hai, Adult Swim.

Never dug the whole Pollock style. I guess I'm just like Octus in that regard.
A flock of birds falling out of the sky. Well that's creepy.
Okay, this time freeze is weird. People stop like statues, but everything else flows or drops.
Maybe it isn't time.

Did anyone else laugh at the guy falling off his bike?
Abstract Expressionism was a way for the artist to express their emotions not through traditional symbols or subject matter. Instead it's purpose was to use the elements of art to directly represent the emotions of the artist. Instead of concrete objects (a happy face, flowers, etc), it uses color and line to represent the abstract, to give form to what can not be seen.

Man, this episode is getting surreal.
Easter Egg: There was a Macross VF-1 mecha in that Toy store window!

Does Octus dream of electric sheep? Or sheep in a splatter painting?

Yeah, great idea - rapid firing the giant arrows of destruction that ruins the countryside.
What is the measure of a robo-man-thing?

I think this is my favorite episode so far. It was more like a character study than an action episode, and thats what i really enjoyed about it. It also reminded me of the minds***w episode of casshern a while back, which i really enjoyed as well. It seems pretty ambitious for a cartoon to try an episode like this, considering that it can be ratings suicide for that week. i think that's the reason I enjoy ST so much. I didn't watch it first run, and I didn't understand the following behind it when it came to toonami. but i gave it a chance, and so far it doesn't turn out to be the typical action cartoon. it seems more adult, more willing to take risks with the content they show. I really hope this show gets another season.
Hmm awesome episode, shows why Octus is awesome. An handful of episodes when is the awesome hero. Go Octus.
Though I would think when everyone was fozen in time, he would check up on Kimmy and make sure she's okay.
Octus is my favorite character in this series, so any episode focused on him automatically gets a plus in my book. I do like how it focuses on Octus questioning what he is through art pieces and then when he's the only one left unaffected by the monster. It's a nice and interesting way to give him development. It does seem weird that Kimmy wasn't mentioned or shown since one would think he'd be worried about her too and his feelings for Kimmy could help him to realize that he isn't just a robot.
Or you just splatter a bunch of paint on a canvas and call it art.
I'm still trying to understand why that was the world's most expensive painting up until last year. (Seriously.)
Anyone can splatter paint on canvas. But the difference between Pollock and most people was that he knew what he was doing and why.
In either case, his work opened new vistas of equally influential and baffling conceptual art movements.
That was the biggest draw of this episode - we got into the mind of a machine man. Sure, the animation was great, and the battle was interesting, but the plot was a bit iffy (so everything is the fault of Space Bat?) But learning about Octus is well worth the viewing.

I was kind of hoping they'd actually explain how the Bat-monster had the ability to do that to the Earth..
