This week on Samurai 7...
The battle begins! As the Nobuseri head toward the village, the samurai and farmers make last preparations.

Last time on Samurai 7...

The village and the samurai continued to prepare for the coming battle with the Nobuseri. Meanwhile, Katsushiro tried to come to terms with his feelings over the first life he has taken. With the traitor (Manzo) discovered, the samurai were at odds over what should be done with him. During this, Kikuchiyo gave a speech and revealed that he was born a farmer. Hearing this, Kambei recruited him as the seventh and final samurai, stating that he knew from the beginning. Kambei also decided to give Manzo another chance but told him that he would kill him if he betrayed them again. Later, the village made a flag containing six circles representing the six samurai, the letter "ta" from tanbo (rice paddy) representing the farmers, and a triangle for Kikuchiyo, because he was both a farmer and a samurai.

This is why I like Kirara. Most girls in this show's setting would accept being a wife or a geisha or a member of Ukyo's harem without resistance, but not her. She wants to do stuff and go places. She doesn't fight, but she still wants to help.

Just when it looked like the farmers have become traitors, it is all part of the plan. And what happened to Kiku's head? He better be okay, or else you have a couple of angry little girls to answer to.

You'll have to wait until next week to see what that ending's about.

Just as awesome as the quiet well-endowed class representative suddenly weilding a magic sword.

Or a kid piloting a giant robot catching his girlfriend out of the sky.

Or adopting an Iriomote cat you met on a class trip to Okinawa that followed you home.

I thought that this was a pretty good episode. Kirara being so willing to help Katsushiro after more blood gets on his hands was kind of nice. Kiku helping out Rikichi with pointing out the obvious consequence of becoming a machine samurai, along with helping him to train, was nice too. The battle was really cool. It felt a bit short, but seeing them fire that giant wooden arrow and the villagers shooting their own arrows was great. When Rikichi started to beg for forgiveness, I knew that it was all a setup. There's no way that he'd want to beg them for their lives after everything they went through. Overall, it was a pretty good episode with a great battle scene. I'm eager to see how their plan unfolds in the next episode.

Y'know their are some scenes that just mess with my head.

On the one hand... "where did they find the tree to make that giant arrow." and "Man is it lucky that the enemy ship flew right into the path of the where the giant ballista was facing since their is no way to aim that thing." and "arrows > metal machine?"

On the other hand... "WOOO, GIANT ARROW!"

It was absurb, but i still enjoyed it for what it was

Got around to watching this episode online. Gotta say, that was a pretty cool battle, despite it being just them shooting arrows at the bandits, and of course I giant friggin' tree arrow (though I concur with Monte that that seemed like a lot of trouble when they couldn't even aim the damn thing).

As for the ending, I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that this is a ruse of some sort.

Juding by the preview, looks like Kirara may be reduced to damsel-in-distress status (well, not that she hasn't been already).

Pretty cool episode, but yeah. The next few weeks will be even better.
