This week on InuYasha...
Episode 1: In medieval Japan, the half-demon InuYasha was confined by the priestess Kikyo. Years later, he is awakened by Kagome, who has traveled through time. A sacred Shikon Jewel surfaces from a cut on her body, leaving her in shock.

Episode 2: Kagome finds out that she may be the reincarnation of Kaede's older sister, the priestess Kikyo, who sealed InuYasha with her arrow.

I remember that Inuyasha was originally pitched to Toonami first, but the reason they wouldn't take it was because the first episode showed "a man arrowed to a tree." So it went to Adult Swim instead.

Yes, and from what I understand, it's not just the US. Apparently when Inuyasha was rerun in Japan recently, they couldn't use the first opening either.

They did play the 1st opening, "Change the World",when the series first aired on Adult Swim (which is actually my favorite opening for the InuYasha series)...I know they didn't use all the openings,but they did show one or two others,IIRC...
