I actually vaguely remember this show now.

Bah. I would've atleast picked the episode where Mutio meets Tetsu. That "world of endless blue" monologue is still fantastic. I reference it in my lyrics to this day.

Edit: for the second time, in the wreckage of the ship.

I forgot about that scene in the opening episode with Mutio being in the ship Tetsu shreds. The energy of that scene was intense too. The whole story was told without a word.

    Wait, this is for real!?

Wow, I thought the Toonami thing was just a joke. Now they're showing old school stuff?! Man, do I have to work tonight

Ah, Blue Sub #6. This was a rather dark and depressing series to show on Toonami. They even had a week long special. While the plot is ... missing, the overall OVA had a great soundtrack, amazing visuals, and it does leave an impression.

    From recording

I only saw some of this ten years ago and don't remember much. This should be interesting.

It's hard to look at that without thinking about what happened last year around this time.

    Whoa, that dude looks evil.

    60s Astro Boy. Wow.

Is TOM suggesting we act like terrorists? Definitely couldn't do that back then.

So she yelled "Stand aside" in that clip. I've been wondering what she said for years.

Did the singers work with Yoko Kanno?

Don't they have any other music videos?

Oh yeah sure they did but thinking about it the other Music Videos they had (like Advance Robotics) probably had clips of shows they don't own anymore (like Superman: The Animated Series) that they couldn't really show any of so decided to just show the one that had all the shows they had bought for the night and nothing else.
Instead of just using this new signature to celebrate a thousand more post, let me list of all the great things you can expect of me on this board for 2012:

...... The same talkbacks you saw me do last year but with new episodes.

.... What are you doing still reading this? Move to the next post already! .

Yeah, I noticed that all of the bumps contained footage only from episodes being aired that night. Perhaps that's why they didn't show any of the classic openings.

I know they used Muyo OVA 1/2 footage in at least the bump advertising Tenchi dvds..

I think the DVD ads are the exception, I'm pretty sure all of them used footage from multiple episodes. It was okay since technically, they were commercials likely approved or made by FUNi and Bandai.

The Tenchi one is a little misleading, though technically FUNimation DOES have the rights to the entire Tenchi series in the US. The Geneon/Universal Japan merger has been holding a Tenchi OVA 1-2/Universe/in Tokyo re-release back for way too long.
    Is Toonami a failed experiment?
Watch on Saturday nights at midnight and show Adult Swim that it's not.
