We ended last episode on a cliffhanger, in a classic case of mistrust. Envy has disguised himself as either Roy or Riza. Which one is he? Or are either Mustang or Riza about to make a big mistake?

Mustang's team interviews Mrs. Bradley on live radio, creating the perception that they are trying to defend the country against a coup d'etat. This causes chaos all over the capital as the rebels are now being portrayed as defenders of Amestris instead of its attackers. The Briggs soldiers launch the final assault on Central HQ. Mustang destroys the mannequin soldiers attacking Ed by incinerating them, thus preventing the bulk of the mannequins from getting outside. May, for her part, continues to flee from Envy until they both wind up in the same area where Ed and Mustang are. Envy confesses to murdering Maes Hughes in a truly flamboyant fashion, even taking on the form of Hughes' wife just to show off how he did it. Roy promptly kicks Envy's ass, setting him on fire over and over, as Ed's group uses the opportunity to proceed into the labyrinth ahead. Envy also flees into the labyrinth, but Mustang continues to pursue and assault Envy, consumed by his hatred. Finally, Envy escapes and spots Riza, who is disobeying Roy's instructions to stay behind, and gets an idea . . . Roy and Riza then encounter each other, but as they begin marching into the labyrinth, Riza pulls a gun on Roy.
