Now those are meh ratings, even if adult Nel and her stripperific outfit beat Family Guy.

More comedy or more fan service seem to be the way to go. Too bad about Koth though.

I`m fine with fanservice as long as it isn`t the entire purpose of the show or get in the way of the plot. Filtering by fanservice is pretty pathetic, even when AS has passed up numerous good series from the past that have very little by average standards, and the Seth shows as well as most of the other comedies have shown much more in terms of cartoon skin. It's the worst kind of double standard.

Hmm slightly lower than average Bleach ratings but FG and Boon should have been able to do better. That's Saturday for you, the only constant is inconsistency.

But hey, second time Bleach beat Family Guy and I think this is the first time it's gotten #1 on Saturday in this batch of episodes. Actually I don't remember the last time it got #1.

Sunday's not so great either. Anything notable happen last weekend? These numbers seem rather low for both nights.

All I can think of is the NBA All-Star game. But I don't remember when it ended.

Also, AS posted dates for some of upcoming series. Mongo is coming back, as well as Superjail in April. Childrens' Hospital returns in June and its spin-off debut sometime later. I hope someone posts the dates.

Does anyone actually think that fanservice is the reason Bleach is the most popular anime? You don't think it has more to do with the fact that it's by far the most recognizable property with by far the most diverse marketing outlets? I'm pretty sure if you put DBZ Kai on AS it would blow away Bleach in terms of ratings, despite having zero fanservice.

This is actually a fascinating argument and one that warrants its own thread. Short answer is "Yes, but that's not the only factor, it also requires..."

    And no Black Dynamite.

Well, there was a show that's debuting in September that was crossed out by AS. So, maybe there is a chance that's Black Dynamite.

ASA Lines of the Night: 2/26/11

    Spoiler:

Bleach #193:Nnoitora: Why did you stop your sword?
Neliel: Why did you stop yours?
Nnoitora: You idiot, it's obvious I stopped my sword because I saw you stop your sword! You're annoying. You're so annoying, when I'm fighting you, I think back. Except for those ridiculous ragtag clothes you're wearing, you haven't changed one single bit.

    Kekkaishi #39:
Teacher: All right, Tokine, would you please read the next part of our lesson? Tokine?
Tokine: Huh? Yes. I'm sorry, I wasn't listening.
Teacher: Oh no! If Tokine has lost interest in my lesson plan, it can only mean that I'm...a failure as a teacher!

    Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood #34:
Miles: I did resent the military's actions. And I also had doubts as to why General Armstrong would keep me as her staff officer. The presence of someone with Ishvalan blood could cause discord among the soldiers stationed here. It would have been easier for her to get rid of me. Eventually, I just came right out and asked her.
Olivier: This is Briggs. No matter what happens, this territory must not fall. Every soldier here must be both strong and flexible. You must move as one cohesive unit, following me, your leader, in all things at all times. In short, we do not have the luxury of discrimination here. The blood of several races flows within you, and with that comes various strengths and values. You can see this country in a way that others cannot. I was born and raised in Amestris. In order to lead, I need someone with your eyes. Now shut up and follow me, Miles! Understood?
Miles: Her words made sense. I knew she was speaking without deception. I even went so far as to ask her, "What if the Ishvalan blood within me cannot forgive what the military did to my people?" And do you want to know what the General said to that?
Olivier: Fine then, bring it! On behalf of the military, I'll accept your challenge anytime!
    Miles: That was it.
Edward: What a scary lady! Maybe she said that because she had her troops with her.
Miles: No, that wasn't it at all.
Armstrong: I'LL FIGHT YOU ONE ON ONE!
Miles: The look in her eye!
    Oh, hai, Adult Swim.
    1/4/10: Reached 1000th post milestone
4/1/12: Thanks to Adult Swim and Toonami, this date will live on as: Best. April. Fools. Day. Ever.
    6/3/12: 2000 posts

So can you explain why shows with non-existent fanservice like FMA and GITS were so popular? Bebop barely had any fanservice either, outside of Faye's outfit. But I've never met a Cowboy Bebop fan who's said they watched that show because of Faye.

Or how about fanservice-heavy shows like Code Geass and Samurai Champloo that failed to find a larger audience?

If the second half of FMA and Brotherhood's ratings are to be believed, it isn't that popular.

I'm personally shocked that AS hasn't released a new advanced schedule yet.

Is it really so hard to make one in Excel? I swear.

It was popular enough for them to keep it around for 6+ years and license the new series. And it did score the highest ever ratings for an anime, and I think until recently, the highest ever ratings for a Saturday show on AS.

I think the crossed out show is an anime that's gonna replace Kekkaishi when that's over. My money's still on Fairy Tail

Do you suppose those numbers for Bob and Bleach are averages of the month's totals or the last week's ratings?
