Premieres look pretty barren for right now. Boosh and Bleach are the only shows that really count as "premieres". Thank God that isn't going to last much longer, by the end of July we'll have Robot Chicken showing up and mid-August will finally bring us some new Moribito.

But still, the premiere slate is pretty small and looks to stay that way through September.

I don't even want to know how yesterday's Bleach eps held up against Lesnar and friends. It'll probably be lower on the ratings front till September.

Anime doesn't have to be brand new to be good. There're lots of shows already released over here that would bring in ratings, but I guess they have that annoying "if it's more than a year old it's not worth watching" mentality. Either that or they're just making another lame excuse.

Of course not, because dialog heavy is out and action/fanservice is in. It figures.

It's a ridiculous excuse because of how lazy and transparently self-serving it is. You can't take it seriously at all.

But it's a pointless one, all the same. Even if they, for some bizarre reason, only looked at shows that have been released since 2008 or earlier this year, there's enough to choose from for whatever purposes and target audiences they would want to focus on.

To say nothing of slightly older shows that could probably be acquired at a better price, since I'd think that would be more of an actual issue. Honestly, I can't help but laugh at that statement and the mere idea of taking it at face value.

I still don't understand why they don't just pick up Naruto Shippuden? It's obvious that the audience likes shounen shows like it, so I don't see why they don't pick it up.

There's also still the new Fullmetal Alchemist series and a new Inuyasha series coming soon. If they don't pick those two...

Re: ratings - Man, Bleach didn't even place. I guess we're in filler mode now. That, and the fourth of July. [as], PLEASE promote Bleach. Or at least double run the repeats at 5AM.

ETA: Sunday didn't fare to well either, save for Family Guy.

The downfall of Bleach can be explained this way...

    Orihime=Ratings
    Hitsugaya=Anti-Ratings

What, they're not even happy with Eden Of The East? They're pulling a fast one on us. More likely, Cartoon Network won't let AS pick up any new anime.

I'm sure there are recent anime series (last two years) that should be compelling watching for a young-adult audience.

Kurau Phantom Memory for example. It's an aliens-among-us story with a well-imagined future world, incredibly interesting characters and situation, pleasing character designs and background art, bouts of solid action and lots of deep emotion. It's also been very under-appreciated.

Yes, there's been a lot of drivel coming out of Japan in recent months, but there also must be at least one gem worth acquiring. (^_*)

Gotta second the "nothing new is interesting" excuse is lame. There's plenty of slightly "older" anime that has plenty of action and could generate interest.

I don't know if another channel has the rights to it, but what about Claymore? lots of action, monsters, swordfights.

    Read my original Comic, "DrawBlood".

So Bleach loses to 4th of July. Oh well, here's guessing it'll go back up when things get interesting...

    Spoiler:

    Bleach (first)
Rangiku: Shouta, I want to give you some information about this Arrancar we’re fighting. Originally, they were identified as Hollows. They’re very much like a fallen soul, a soul that still has an attachment to the world and becomes corrupted. It then loses its heart and becomes a Hollow. We Soul Reapers exist not only to save souls, but to save Hollows as well. We do that by cutting Hollows with our Zanpakuto. But this sends them back to the Soul Society. It’s sort of like cleansing Hollows of their sins in order for them to be reborn. I’m so sorry that we couldn’t protect your sister. But it’s not too late. We can still save Yui’s soul.
    Shouta: Okay.
Rangiku: This time it’s gonna be your turn. Hold on to this. I think that you and I should save Yui’s soul together!
("It’s time for you to prepare to die" got a lot of attention, but I liked this line better.)

    Bleach (second)
Karin: Wow, you really are a captain. You sure are cool, Toshiro. Even though you’re just a little grade-schooler!
Toshiro: Who said I was in grade school?!
Karin: Huh, you mean you’re not?
    Rangiku: Hahahahaha! That’s hilarious!
Toshiro: Look, I’m only going to tell you this one last time! I AM NOT A LITTLE KID!

    Moribito

Balsa: I know this wasn’t our deal, but that horse of yours; guessing from the sound of its gate, you have a Black Locust horse. It’s said that breed can gallop across three kingdoms in one night.
Kimono: Hm? You’ve got some sharp ears.
Balsa: So, then I was right. In that case, I take the horse too.
Kimono: Huh? No way, forget it! That horse out there is off limits!
    Balsa:
Kimono: You owe me one, Balsa!

    Star Wars: The Clone Wars
Obi-Wan: You seem a bit on edge.
Anakin: There’s a good chance we’re about to destroy all life on this planet, including ours and the Senator’s, so yes, I’m a bit on edge! Why aren’t you?!
Obi-Wan: I’m better at hiding it.

    Code Geass
    retired

    Fullmetal Alchemist
Havoc (with cigarette in his mouth): ………………………………..

    Death Note
Light: How many seconds has it been since you wrote down the first name?
    Mikami: 30 seconds. 31. 32. 33. 34. 35. 36. 37! 38! 39!
Light: Well Near, looks like I win!
    Mikami: FORTY!

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd Gig
Togusa: You want me to kill you, you son of a b!4(h?!

Not happy with what's coming out in Japan... you mean new series based on the franchises you've had the most success with (anime wise anyway)? And since your audience loves shounen Naruto Shippudden, One Piece and Soul Eater say hi. Come on AS... even if Japan isn't putting out that many winners right now they're putting out at least enough for you to pick up 1 to 2 new shows every year.

And you should have picked up Gurren Lagann but nooooooooo you went for Code Geass.

If you're going to finally play a fanservicey show at least play a good one. *face palms*
