C&C - Shin-Chan - "Episode 34" [5/31]

Like This Thread!
Another episode of everyone's favorite potty-mouthed Japanese kid. The episode from two weeks ago made the Top 3 for Saturday night ratings. Granted it was below 300,000 18-34, but hey it made it.

Ass Got Bressy Being Green - Another episode in which Shin being in a weird show was the episode. I loved the beginning Shin kept annoying Mitzi, that was so funny when he kept waking her up. One line that stood out Penny saying she hated the 2nd graders because they didn't call after they stayed in ditch. That is very Lolla Popish funny.

Summer Baby - Summer and Paris are back. The opening scene is probably the best one, I love it when Shin runs into random people are on the streets. Mitzi's randomly thinking of how great life is without those neighbors that was just perfect when they appeared. Though in my opinion the neighbors from Falling Apartments is an improvement over Micchi and Yoshirin. Summer and Paris they are not nearly as annoying and incosiderate as Micchi and Yoshirin are to the Noharas, hell no one is. With their similar attitudes with not right in the head mothers, Paris and Penny would make good friends, they have a lot in common. Anyway back to the episode, the story didn't really take off. Paris decease, I was disappointed there was no Gary Colemen or Emanual Lewis joke. That writes itself FUNi. The story didn't really interest me that much, the part when Mitzi clocked Shin and said unless he is making fun of brest sizes and in which all beats are off, that was funny. It is just the return of two characters that is all it is about. It is fun to see them back.

Action Bastard: Fear The Money Shot - this one wasn't as the other Action Bastard episodes, but that is okay. I love the line of being a hero meaning you can do what you want, even ignore people trying to help you. The doctor's line about being a creppy old man, that was funny. The Shin was very simple but effective, it is only television. An obvious breaking of the wall joke that was right on the mark.

Off topic: it was suggested on another thread, but they should add musical number segments in which they air some of the openings and closings from the Japanese show. That would be fun to watch, my first suggestion the 15th anniversery version of "Leisely De-O", which I believe the one in which the cast are all canoing. That would be a great showcase to the american audiance. If they could, I would have Laura Baley dub Shin's reggae rap and come up with their own lyrics for the rap. But keep the original background singers and music intact. And for the other songs, just keep it as they are, no need to translate these songs. A song can be catchy in a foreign language.

"Ass Got Breezy Being Green" - You know when realizing that this was going to be a frog catching skit I felt kind of meh to the idea, but it actually turned out to be pretty funny. Probably due to the lines they were able to squeeze out: Shin bothering Mitzy and getting Boo to dance with him, George and Penny being against the idea of catching frogs just so they could let them go, the gilligan island theme song they sang (though the whole "three hour tour" line kind of reminded me of when Lupin the Third's dub did that joke as well. Guess Shin's not the only old dub to stick in old refrences as jokes the japanese wouldn't really get too much), Boo's frog catching methods, Shin letting the big frog go to get plenty of action from lady frogs, Georgie whinning about his future career when Shin start wagging his ass in front of his face (though yeah ass jokes are really getting old. Not assy Mcgee old but still not too good), the bullies wanting to stick firecrackers into the frog and let them on fire to Limp Bizkit songs and Shin scaring them away. At the very least this one took what could of been a more meh idea and gave some good moments to enjoy.

"Summer Baby" - Oh yeah, I did hear that some of the neighbors from the apartment arc would actually return on the show, so I guess this was Summer and Paris's return to Shin chan. In truth Paris is funnier when she's just randomly shouting everything's ghetto then taking out mole spots or being called a dwarf and things like that. And in truth the whole incredibley crappy Paris Hilton esque mother jokes really shouldn't be used too much so hopefully there won't be too many more sketches like this unless they switch up the material. A few bright spots: Shin's comments on his duck dong, Mitzi being happy to not be living in the apartment when they're apartment neighbors come in (kind of an overdone joke sure but I found it funny here), Shin over abusing Paris's greeting phrase, and Mitzy getting high at the end. Relaly next time though I hope they go somewhere else with these neighbors. And if they don't I hope they go away and don't show up in the dub of this show again.

"Fear The Money Shot" - Probably the best segment on this ep though not as good as some of the other Bastard episodes. Still I did like the plot of this one: The Evil Hitlerclone actually coming up with a good plan on having Bastard go into his lair and waste all his energy on his generic henchmen and then blow him up when he was back to being Bruce. Yeah I'm sure Bastard's alive but still pretty good thinking on Hitlerclone's end. In addition to that there were some pretty good jokes: Asking how he could have those holograms up all at once, the doctor mastering in perpotorous speculation, Bastard leaving because it's heroes code to kick ass and not get help from your friends, Lollypop saying the docotr could of been thinking of her when he mentioned how he could of not seen the obvious flaw and the ending narration and Mitzi's line about not dedicating everything to just watching TV. True advice, but don't say that when you're just a cartoon character okay?

Overall not really the best episode (espically due to the sagging middle segment and weakest bastard yet) but okay anyway. Hope there's more bastard segments to watch in coming weeks though since the storyline should defintley continue on.
Instead of just using this new signature to celebrate a thousand more post, let me list of all the great things you can expect of me on this board for 2012:

...... The same talkbacks you saw me do last year but with new episodes.

.... What are you doing still reading this? Move to the next post already! .

Action Bastard has really taking over the show lately. I wonder if TV Asahi ever considered a Action Kamen spinoff. If the FUNi Shin Chan was an original show on Adult Swim, Action Bastard might actully get a spinoff. Keep in mind all of these Action Bastard episodes are from 1995. I am not sure if those Action Kamen episodes were as popular originally in Japan as they are here.

My, they stretch the puns on this show.

Loudest Mitzi's ever been thus far.

"Frogs are green like good boy pills! I'll take one or two!"

Dick and Rummy joke.

I don't know why we say goodbye, Boo says hello.

"I've been tied up and left to die in the tall grass! Not the frogs again! AAAAAAAAGH!!"

"I'm gonna douse a frog in gasoline and make him dance to Limp Bizkit records!"

Hey, it's that American bimbo mother who appeared a few times in the Falling Apartments episodes last season who Mitzi had to beat to the supermarket when they had a sale on avian flu-free eggs and who has that one kid who thinks everything is ghetto and whose cooking really sucks and who is a total screw-up at housework and things and is voiced by the same person who did Asuka from Evangelion and who I'm betting sounds like a munchkin in the original Japanese version!

Suggestive pool toy.

Admit it, Mitzi. You set yourself up for that one.

Nose moles are fun.

Children shown not actual age.

Who says "chillax" anymore?

I'd hate to be here when Mitzi comes down.

LUCKY BASTARD FEVER...catch it!

He's going to kill 60-90% of the population because of some stupid "dumb test" banner ad?

"Bastard B***hslap!"
It's a smorgasbord of mindless violence!

Call me Bruce. I teach logical positivism and am also in charge of the sheep dip.

OH THE HUMANITY!
